The Espresso Martini – blame Dick Bradshell.
Created in the late 1980s Soho, London. A model asked for something that would, “wake me up, and then f**k me up.” (some speculate the model was Kate Moss, others Naomi Campbell, but Bradsell has never revealed her identity.) Dick admits that the cocktail’s invention happened out of circumstance and annoyance with the coffee machine being right next to his drink’s station… and because Vodka was all the rage in the 80’s. The cocktail got so popular that we enjoy versions in bars around the world.
And now… there’s a FESTIVAL!
Friday 2 February 5pm – 11pm & Saturday 3 February 12pm – 10pm
Espresso Martini Festival ADL is the first of an annual cocktail competition we’ve designed to celebrate the rise of cocktail bars in Adelaide. It’s a showcase of the best South Australia has to offer.
Bars are presented with the challenge to make Adelaide’s best “Espresso Martini”. The cocktail will be judged by three judges. And as an added bonus, you have opportunity to help promote & support your favourite cocktails bars by voting in on the people’s choice awards. When the competition is done, all guests will vote for the next cocktail challenge for 2019.
