$30Workshop 1: Introduction to Classic Burlesque

Class Description: In this all-levels workshop students will learn about the art of classic burlesque, with a focus on movement, style and developing musicality. This routine will include a focus on upper and lower body movement for burlesque performance, creating a stage persona, working with props, and tease!
Level of experience: suitable for all levels – no dance experience necessary.
What to bring/wear: Gloves, water bottle, dance heels, and wear dance tights or shorts.
Workshop 2: Gogo Bananas

Date/Time: 4 October – 735pm to 805pm
Instructor: Lucy Lovegun
Class Description: It’s time for a sexy party! This high-energy workshop will take you on a trip back to when the hair was high, the skirts were short and rock n roll free spirit prevailed. With some primo tracks from the era we’ll get your hips a shakin’, your arms a bendin’ and have you doing the monkey, wahtusi, hully gully and so many more before you know it. Prepare yourself to have some outta sight fun as you learn how to shimmy and shake 1960’s style. Students will learn gogo dance moves through an upbeat gogo routine along with 60’s cage and social dance styling.
Level of experience: No dance experience necessary just a willingness to embrace your inner wild child and let loose.
What to bring/wear: Comfortable clothing and shoes you can jiggle in, flat shoes are recommended. Feel free to dress the part, fringing/shimmy sets and gogo boots welcome! Please bring a water bottle.
Workshop 3: Burlesque Costuming – from concept to creation
Price: $30
Date/Time: 4 October 810pm to 840pm
Instructor: Ella Fontaine
Class Description: This is a workshop designed to allow students to develop their costuming ideas to create original and dazzling costumes.
This workshop will cover:
● “Classic” burlesque costume basics
● Using research and inspiration to develop original ideas.
● Developing ideas through illustration
● Tips & Tricks for designing costumes for easy removal
Experience Level: Beginner to intermediate
What to Wear / bring: lead pencil, eraser and any inspirational materials.
Workshop 4: Get Down and Dirty
Price: $30
Date/Time: 4 October 845pm to 915pm

Class Description: Drawing inspiration from our fierce women in history such Tempest Storm and Jennie Lee, this 30min workshop will teach you the fundamentals of old school bump n grind! Get down and dirty, gritty and flirty with this fabulously fun and energetic class. Learn how to let yourself go and enjoy the erotic burlesque ride while your body gives in to ferocious moves and sensual grooves. Throughout the workshop we will cover techniques such as showgirl struts, shimmies, bump n grind, floor work, how to tease and transfix, and how to lure in your audience to melting point. A fun, sexy and energetic workshop that will open your base chakra to the pleasures of sensuality!
Level of experience: All levels
What to bring/wear: Comfortable clothes that make you feel sexy and that don’t restrict your movement. Dance heels are optional – bare feet are fine!
Workshop 5: Rock and Roll, Down and Dirty Bump & Grind
Price: $30
Date/Time: 4 October 920pm to 950pm
Instructor: The Diamond Dahlia
Class Description: The Diamond Dahlia’s signature class. In this class you will learn the bump & grind bible and then adapt these moves to a high energy Rock and Roll routine. This class is suitable for all experience levels and can be undertaken in bare feet or heels. Loose, fun and filled to the brim with all the attitude DeeDee is known for. You’ll learn the moves and some history of how these came to be and the different eras of Burlesque.
Level of experience: all levels
What to bring/wear: heels (if you prefer), water and attitude!
