Review: The Establishment: Le Bureau de Strange ★★★★
The Establishment consists of UK comedy duo Dan Lees and Neil Frost. The two exude British charm and pure absurdity with their mismatching suits and bowler hats. This is classic British comedy at its best!
The pair makes a tentative entrance, creeping up onto the stage and scaring one audience member in the process! But if this entrance doesn’t grab you, they are open to suggestions – one audience member suggests a jumping entrance, while another suggests a musical number. All are taken on board and hilarity ensues!
Less and Frost get to known their crowd and it appears Queen Elizabeth (as well as numerous other celebrities!) has graced us with her presence tonight! And what else is there to do when the Queen is in town but moose hunt? Or we could hunt whales as another audience member suggests!
These two seem to excel at improv humour and feed off of each other as well as the audience. Their quick wit it put to the test when they banter with the crowd and even get the audience to make up one of their final routines involving a lobster named Harry.
All of this will may seem obscure and out of context, but it makes perfect sense within the show! If you’re a fan of Monty Python-type, slap-stick style humour this will be an absolute treat for you! Let the unique comedy stylings of this duo leave you walking out of the Wine Centre with sore cheeks from too much laughing!
