Eau De Chanté is a fashion label that uses mostly wool and some silk; always in black with highlights of red contrasted on hems, frill inserts and linings. A strong focus on fabrication, cut, technical pattern making and silhouette, and a dedication to rejecting trends are the key elements woven into the core of Eau De Chanté.

“Who Really Cares AW/20” is a collection constructed using predominantly wool fabrics, and with a clear intention of utilising a colour palette of only black. Four months of draping, using only wool and cotton, resulted in unexpected silhouettes and garments that reflect conflicts with gender identity and expression. 100 sketches and ideas were produced in a visual diary, then narrowed down to 6 final outfits.

These sketches and ideas where drawn upon and inspired by wool suiting and objects that aren’t typically associated with fashion, but rather objects that we may encounter in our every day- frilled pillows, empty tubs of mayonnaise from the fish & chip shop and hot air balloons.

This collection looks to question the disposable nature of the 21st century and its obsession with trends, whilst also rewriting the narrative that traditionally favours societally structured ideals of femininity.
