ABOUT THE COURSE:
A successful garden is more than a collection of plants. It must be designed for the climate, the soil conditions, the welfare of the local wildlife and the needs of the owners especially with regard to its surroundings or ‘sense of place’.
In this two-day course you’ll learn about the foundations of landscape design and develop the skills to create a garden that feels good, performs for you, has longevity and evolves to provide you with shade, shelter, privacy and protection.
Structure: What makes a garden ‘feel’ right? What is it about a garden that elicits a sigh, makes you feel good? Long before your eyes register the scene, you sense temperature, weather, aroma, ambience, spatial integrity, shape and form.
Character: What makes a garden look good? Explore light, colour, and texture; learn how to establish a theme and the essential components of a beautiful garden space.
Personality: How do you make a garden that reflects you? It’s in the detail. Explore the components of a garden that give it a personality by adding the details.
