Mt Gambier limestone is a soft and easy stone to carve with hand tools, so bring along an idea, an object or just the curiosity to explore what you can do with the stone. We’ll guide you in
- Safe handling of stoneworking tools
- Variety of carving techniques
- Surface finishing
All tools and masks (or byo) are provided for use, please bring gloves and be prepared to get a little dusty…. choose a block and let’s get started!
Beginners are very welcome

Where: Crystal Lake Park, Devereux St, Macclesfield
When: Sat 19 Sep 2020 and/or Sun 20 Sep 2020. 10 – 4pm each day
Cost: $130 single day $240 both days
Presented by South Australian Stone Sculptors Association.
Instructors two per day
Evan Marker applies 20 years of stoneworking experience to stone sculpting, producing large symposium scale and smaller works. He conducted carving workshops during the Sculptors@Crystal Lake Symposium 2019
Andrew Stock has over 25 years experience as a professional sculptor and lecturer. He sees his main role as a studio lecturer is to help people feel confident enough to be playfully creative
Sally Wickes is a professional sculptor, working in hard and soft stone since 2002. She conducted carving workshops during Adelaide Hills International Sculpture symposiums
