‘Nunsense: The Mega Musical’!
From the 11th – 13th and the 16th – 20th of May at 7:30pm
Matinees on Saturday the 13th and the 20th at 2pm
The Little Sisters of Hoboken Convent have run into some trouble after their incompetent cook, Sister Julia Child of God, messed up the vichyssoise and accidentally poisoned 52 of their members! The remaining members of the order, who were off playing bingo at the time, realise they only have sufficient funds for 48 burials and so, with the last four nuns ‘on ice’ in the deep freeze, they set about raising the necessary funds by staging a variety show in the Mount St Helen’s School auditorium. With an array of somewhat dubious talent including Mother Superior Mary Regina, a former circus performer, Sister Mary Leo, determined to be the world’s first nun ballerina, and the dizzy Sister Mary Amnesia, who lost her memory when a crucifix fell on her head, the scene is set for a night of hilarity, high jinks and audience participation. Until the news of an imminent visit by the Jersey Board of Health!
‘Nunsense’ was the winner of the Outer Critics’ Circle Awards for Best Musical, Best Book, and Best Music in 1986. This ‘Mega Musical’ version includes a larger cast, extra music and dance numbers, and even more opportunities for serious belly laughs.
You could even say it was ‘habit forming’!!
