Vintage icon runways, Anti-bride bridalwear, crochet bikinis and Fran Fine-inspired designing are all part of Adelaide Arcade’s eclectic events during ADL Fashion Week (AFW) 2024.

Adelaide Arcade will host events for the third consecutive year across multiple outlets from 11 to 13 October, including from its newest store Frida Las Vegas – which opened this September.

Andrew Jonats, General Manager, Adelaide Arcade, says the varied choice of events across AFW speak to the variety of outlets in the precinct.

“We love seeing creativity come out from our retailers, who are all so unique and edgy in their own way,” says Andrew. “This year’s AFW events are really exploring all facets of fashion, and we hope to see shoppers take advantage of what’s on offer.”

The Fran Fine Fantasy Workshop at Frida Las Vegas sees budding designers create outfits for the well-loved character in a fun creative session on Saturday, 12 October for $35.

Stavroula Adameitis, Founder, Frida Las Vegas, says it’s a nostalgia hit where the 90s come back in full swing.

“This is a workshop to have fun with friends, where you’ll be dissecting Fran Fine’s wardrobe secrets and getting in touch with your inner child,” says Stavroula. “I’m so excited to run this as the first workshop in my new Adelaide Arcade location.”

Popular gift store Have You Met Charlie? will take their pop-up Mintcloud Candy Bar to Rundle Mall where shoppers can create their own earrings and have them made on the spot.

Lauren Harper, Owner, Have You Met Charlie? and Mintcloud, says a pair of bespoke earrings will always get people talking.

“Having something custom-made just for you is really special, and we love seeing the joy of that happening,” says Lauren. “It’s an easy way to express yourself in whatever colour or design you like.”

Prices for earrings will vary.

Fleur Allure Couture will host a pop-up collection outside J.Farren Price, showcasing their anti-bride bridal collection.

Fleurieu Made will be soon opening a pop-up store in conjunction with Renew Adelaide and will be hosting three events and workshops.

Crochet Your Own Bikini has two sessions on Saturday, 12 October for $105, run by two nonne (grandmas) who will help you create your own Tay Tay-inspired crochet swimwear.

Heart on Your Sleeve – Clothes Swap with a Twist on Sunday, 13 October, encourages a clothes swap with a story where you reveal why the item was important to you during your ownership.

Imagine Circular Fashion Pop-Up across the Friday and Saturday (11 and 12 October) gives budding designers access to equipment to improve their circular textile skills.

Established vintage stores Finding Nina and Dulcie’s Vintage will both be involved in AFW in 2024. Dulcie’s famous bus will pop up in Rundle Mall during AFW weekend, continuing their support of Centacare and Hutt St Centre which tackle homelessness.

Finding Nina is hosting Australian Icons: A Vintage Runway, showcasing 1950s to 1990s Australian fashion from legendary designers such as Lisa Ho and George Gross. The event is in conjunction with Dulcie’s and Rundle Street’s Little Ms Waste-Not.
