Spring Racing at Adelaide’s Morphettville Racecourse returns for 2024, with tickets selling fast for a stellar Carnival program featuring five race meetings from Saturday, 19th October to Saturday, 9th November.
Caulfield Cup, Cox Plate, Victoria Derby Day, Melbourne Cup Day and Champions Stakes Day are some of the biggest days on the annual calendar, set to excite seasoned punters and newcomers alike. All offer a wide range of packages from general admission to hospitality options in the exquisite Wolf Blass Event Centre.
Morphettville Racecourse CEO, Grant Mayer shares his excitement on the development of Spring Racing in Adelaide. “The Spring Racing Carnival is a highlight on Adelaide’s social calendar, and we’re thrilled to bring it back with even more excitement this year. This year’s carnival is more than just a sporting event – it’s a celebration of fashion, fun, and racing at its finest,” says Mayer.

The Spring Racing Carnival kicks off Saturday, 19th October with Adelaide’s fast track to fashion at Caulfield Cup. Experience Croser Morphettville Fashions, including a new line up of categories, judging and prizes.
Stylist, interior designer and lecturer, Markus Hamence will MC the competition, supported by judges Anna Vlach from The Advertiser, Mimi-Jane from Mimi-Jane Millinery and Jack Reynolds; a local content creator and social media influencer. While the Trackside Lounge package featuring a three-course meal is already sold out, the premium Champions Balcony package gives punters a race day dining experience not to be forgotten.
Located in the Morphett Room in the Wolf Blass Event Centre and featuring exquisite views of the finishing post, the $245 package includes a five-hour beverage package as well as a three-course luncheon, racebook and betting facilities. The Caulfield Cup has its beginnings back in 1879 and today remains an important lead-up race to the Melbourne Cup. Some of the world’s best horses and riders race across 2400 metres for $5 million in prizemoney.
The Cox Plate follows on Saturday, 26th October with the same prizemoney at stake. Racegoers can enjoy a day of fast-tracked fun including limited free pink rose buttonholes, and a bespoke Cox Plate Paloma feature cocktail.
Punters are encouraged to indulge in the Champions Balcony here for the same price or consider trackside options, with the Trackside Lounge package also sold out for this event.
The regular CC Giddy Up Club package still has access to food offerings and DJs providing beats on the green for $170 per person.
Victoria Derby Day marks the third weekend of Spring Racing on Saturday, 2nd November, where black and white dress is a must. Celebrate Ladies Day at the track with limited free cornflower buttonholes* and happy hour between 11am – 12noon for those who get in early.
One of the most seriously social events on the racing calendar, this event gives fashion the spotlight as it showcases the versatility of a monochrome palette.
The Champion’s Balcony is sold out for Victoria Derby Day, but all other packages are still available. General Admission tickets are available for $20, while a $235 per person package is available for groups between 10 and 20 who want a private suite within the Heritage Grandstand overlooking the home straight.
Packages change for the final week of events with the Melbourne Cup to stop Morphettville as well as the nation on Tuesday, 5th November.
The only venue in town with all the action from Flemington amongst the excitement and flair of genuine race day atmosphere, entry starts at $35 for General Admission tickets, while the Trackside Picnic option for $95 suits a group of six with a charcuterie board on arrival. Tables situated trackside have umbrellas and provide easy access to bars, food and facilities. The First Class Piper Champagne Lounge boasts trackside and mounting yard views matched with a roaming cocktail menu, food stations and beverage package for a luxe up close and personal race day experience at $295 per head.
The final race is Champions Stakes Day on Saturday, 9th November which features activities for young and old. Families are encouraged to explore Morphettville across activations while watching the action trackside.
Families can enjoy free kids’ entertainment and experience a choice of free selected Fleurieu Milk child-friendly drinks and snack giveaways. Free entry for kids 17 years and under and student concession available.
