Maajela is a project taking influence from Hindustani, Carnatic, Sufi, Afrobeat, and Anatolian rock, aiming to create a powerful celebration of music through the different melodies, traditions, and rhythms these genres possess.
Combining the sounds of the cultures they represent with contemporary layered and expressive writing, Maajela’s music sits in a space between the ever-developing relationship between the East and West. Their compositions reflect a growing dialogue where heritage and innovation exist and where traditional forms are reimagined through new perspectives. This fusion creates an immersive listening experience that is emotionally powerful and sonically diverse.
