Frida fever has taken over Adelaide this winter with the Frida & Diego: City Trail, showcasing all things Mexican in honour of revered artists; Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera.
To compliment the Art Gallery of South Australia’s Frida & Diego: Love & Revolution exhibition, the Frida & Diego City Trail highlights some of the city’s best restaurants and stores and encourages visitors to the exhibition and art enthusiasts to extend their stay and enjoy all that’s on offer.
From 24 June to 17 September, visitors and enthusiasts alike can start their adventure in Rundle Mall at La Casa Azul — a tribute to Frida inspired by her home in Mexico City, before setting off to discover exclusive Mexican-themed offers as part of the City Trail.
AEDA Acting Managing Director, Greg Ratsch, identifies the Frida & Diego: City Trail as “an opportunity for city businesses to be part of the success during a traditionally quiet time of the year.”
Expect exciting Frida-themed cocktails such as the ‘Marga-Frida’ at Hotel Indigo Adelaide Markets and the ‘Frida-rita’ at Two-Bit Villains in Rundle Mall, as well as indulgent menu items like the Frida & Diego Affair Special Menu at Cumbia Bar Kitchen and a Frida-inspired cake and sip workshop at Cielo. Those with a more artistic flair can try a paint and sip class or strike a pose at the Look Like Frida Trail on Hutt Street.
“As a supporter of the Art Gallery of South Australia, we were very pleased to take part in the Frida & Diego: City Trail” says Adam Warren, Marketing Manager Hotel Indigo Adelaide Markets. “Our offer showcases the best of the hotel from our food and beverage team with a specialty cocktail and dessert. We look forward to a great exhibition season and welcoming guests on the City Trail”.
