Chocolate High Tea at Stamford Plaza

Calling all chocoholics! The Stamford Plaza has a chocolate high tea just for you, and we tested it out last weekend.

Set in the relaxing atmosphere of the Cascades Lounge, we received a glass of champagne on arrival, followed by the classic three-tiered stand of gourmet delights. The savoury plate consisted of finger sandwiches and mini pastries. The curry puffs were crispy and flavoursome, and the smoked salmon, beetroot and lemon cream cheese sandwich was an especially yum combo.

For sweets, there were exquisite looking, melt-in-your-mouth chocolates, and a variety of choc-flavoured treats, such as scones, cakes and macaroons. The light sponge and cream of the dark chocolate biscuit roll  were delicious and left me wanting more.

There was a selection of black and green teas, infusions and coffees. I chose ‘berry sensation’, a black tea with subtle fruity flavours of strawberry, raspberry and blueberry.

Around the room people were celebrating different occasions – a baby shower, a hen’s party, couples on romantic dates, or simply enjoying a catch-up with friends.

There’s something about being in a classy hotel that makes you feel like you’re on a mini holiday even if it’s just an afternoon out. Cascades Lounge was a great place to eat, drink and unwind while sinking into big comfy chairs. This was a scrumptious high tea in a cosy, but elegant atmosphere.

If chocolate isn’t your thing, the Stamford Plaza also offers traditional high teas as well as ones with Halloween, Wizardry and Winter Wonderland themes.
