Review: Cirque Africa

Elisabeth Marie
Show date: 22/02/2020
Rating: 4/5

An incredible show of high energy acrobats, dancers, percussionists, musicians, and contortionists, Cirque Africa: Program 2 is a non-stop, action packed sequel to Cirque Africa: Program 1.

This performance leaves its audience bewildered by the fearless and entertaining stunts by 25 performing artists from six African countries. The show is 100% African, from the vibrant costuming to the upbeat musical compositions.

Hosted in the Cirque Africa Big Top, a surround stage allows the audience to witness every aspect of the show. Props are used as the performers contort themselves on marble surfaces, perform aerial stunts, and balance on incredibly high and unstable objects.

Music and lighting cues add volume to the performance, and highlight the theme of Africa. The performers also play instruments and egg on the crowd to cheer and enjoy the show to the full extent.

Although somewhat slower than its paired Cirque Africa: Program 1, you wont be disappointed in this enthralling and awe-inspiring performance. Some aspects of the show seemed prolonged and the audience did lose some interest, but the performers were quick to regain the audiences attention and impress them with their incredible show.

Be sure to take the entire family to this brilliant act of knuckle-biting acrobatic acts, humorous comedy, high beat dancing, and incredible body contorting. There is something for everybody to enjoy and its the perfect way to spend an afternoon with family and friends!
