DUMPLING 100 LAUNCHES WITH TWO STORES IN THE ADELAIDE CBD

Adelaide has two new lead lunch spots with wholesaling prodigy, Dumpling 100, choosing bustling Hindley Street and Rundle Place food court as the locations for their first bricks and mortar stores.

On the back of a successful 2022 opening their first store on Hindley Street, Dumpling 100 Express has continued their success by opening their second store in Rundle Place food court last month in February.

The wholesaler’s move into physical shopfronts has been with strong intent to help the local economy and Operations Director, Shelley Zhou, says the continued effects of the pandemic formed their inspiration to succeed at greater lengths as a business.

“Early last year many shops were still vacant, and we wanted to help bring things back with our small efforts,” says Shelley. “We also want to bring the feel of traditional Chinese food and fast, affordable meals to those with the busy city lifestyle.”

Founder, Steven Huang, was a chef prior to creating Dumpling 100 and tweaks traditional Chinese family recipes to customise the taste profile for the Australian market.

Using local ingredients where possible, he and the growing team have developed a menu for the Express stores to include their interpretations of traditional pan-fried dumplings, steam soup buns, wonton soups and a dumpling bowl with signature rice

There are 11 dumpling flavours to choose from across menu items, as well as three different wonton fillings of choice. Shelley says any expansion to the menu would come based off customer demand.

“We are still in the research stage as we discover from the Hindley Street store what customers want from us, and we’ll adapt to that as we continue with the Rundle Place store,” says Shelley.

“We are so inspired by how Australians love dumplings and Chinese dishes in general, and we want people to explore Chinese culture more through the most traditional and popular food by making the best quality dumplings.”

To celebrate the opening of both the King William Street and Rundle Place shopfronts, Dumping 100 is slashing the price of  their 8pcs pan-fried dumplings to $5.00 per serve for the first 100 customers on the 31st of March.

Dumpling 100 has already built a stronghold in the local manufacturing space as a leading South Australian owned and operated frozen food manufacturer.

With a centralised production process controlled in the HACCP-certified factory, it supplies products to more than 400 supermarkets including Woolworths, Foodland, Drakes and OTR stations, as well as independents in Queensland and north Sydney.

The opening of Dumpling 100 Express retail stores brings flexibility to the consumer, allowing for an in-house dining experience as well as the opportunity to have products at home with ease with their frozen products.
