First Fridays | Colours of Impressionism: Masterpieces from the Musée d’Orsay
Friday 4 May, 5-9pm | Free

Experience Paris’ Left Bank on North Terrace with Colours of Impressionism, exclusive to Adelaide. Enjoy a glass of bubbles, French inspired quirk-folk by the Coconut Kids, and talks and tours focusing on some of the 65-plus masterworks from the Musée d’Orsay, regarded as the home of French Impressionism.

GUIDED TOURS – 5pm & 7pm

Where: Meet in the Vestibule, exhibition ticket required.
Tour 2: 2018 Adelaide Biennial of Australian Art: Divided Worlds
Where: Meet at the information desk in the Atrium, Free.

MUSIC PERFORMANCE – 5pm & 7pm
Sit back and enjoy some retro disco tunes with a unique French flavour with DJ Bennymax.

CURATORS CUT FLOOR TALK – 6pm
Delve deeper into the themes surrounding Colours of Impressionism with a floor talk by the Art Gallery of South Australia’s Coordinating Curator Tony Magnusson.

MUSIC PERFORMANCE – 6.30pm & 8pm
Infectiously fun, The Coconut Kids defy genres to create French-influenced world folk using ukulele, brass, rhythm and powerful vocals. Their unique sound will have you dancing one minute and in tears the next.
Where: Sculpture courtyard

EXPERIENCE – 7.30pm
Join us for a colourful evening through a scientific lens, as David “colourman” Cole examines the history of pigments through a series of practical demonstrations. Known as the ‘pigment whisperer’ and magician of colour, Cole is the founder and mastermind behind the Melbourne-based boutique of high-end handmade oil paints, Langridge Artist Colours.

ART GALLERY FOOD + WINE
Enjoy a light supper or share a plate and sit back with cold beverage while taking in the atmosphere and hospitality of AGF+W.

Think of the Gallery as a launch pad for your weekend; have a bite to eat and something to drink at Art Gallery Food + Wine, browse in the Gallery Shop and immerse yourself in art and culture with an amazing mix of eclectic characters – then lose yourself in the city as you head off to other gigs, shows and events.
