Did you know the recorder was named after its imitation of bird song? Join some of Adelaide’s – and Australia’s – best performers of early music as we explore the lives and sounds of magpies and nightingales, bird song sweet and wild, soaring through the sky and struggling to break free through early music of Telemann, Handel, Van Eyck and Pinel through to contemporary works by Dorwarth, Bresgen, and a new work by Adelaide-based composer Georgina Bowden.
Recorder player Brendan O’Donnell has been described as a “virtuoso, scholar, [and] presenter … of rare charm and lucidity” (The Advertiser); soprano Kate Macfarlane as an “engaging and exciting performer” (Aachener Zeitung). They are joined by Catherine Finnis on cello and Glenys March on harpsichord, Adelaide’s finest continuo duo
