SUMMARY:Emu Runner: Australian Premiere
DESCRIPTION:A story to open hearts and minds. \nNine-year-old Indigenous girl Gem Daniels lives in a remote town. Following the unexpected death of her mother\, Gem finds solace in the company of a wild emu\, unwittingly connecting with her mother’s totem animal. When Gem attracts the attention of a newly-arrived social worker her father Jay Jay faces prejudices from the white community\, while also proving himself as a sole parent to his Indigenous family and friends. \nEmu Runner is a story about respecting difference. DESCRIPTION:Enjoy an evening dinner with Karmele Llano Sanchez from International Animal Rescue. \nHave a chance to discuss Karmele’s work and the challenges they are currently working with. Hear about the history of IAR and the orangutans that this campaign is hoping to release in her presentation. \nKarmele is the program director at IAR Indonesia overseeing their orangutan rescue\, rehabilitation and release centre in Ketapang as well as their centre in Bogor focussing on Slow Loris.\n——\nBBBRNP is an incredible piece of primary forest encompassing over 200\,000ha and supports an array of wildlife. Our partner\, International Animal Rescue (IAR) in Indonesia conducted their own research and confirmed the locals observations. \nHere’s what we’re doing about it:\nIAR Indonesia has begun a mission to bring back orang-utan in the Mantatai region of this beautiful National Park. \nAt IAR’s rescue and rehabilitation centre in Ketapang West Kalimantan\, four potential release candidates ha

SUMMARY:Peter Bibby - Rocket Bar\, Adelaide
DESCRIPTION:Australia’s foremost maverick poet Peter Bibby returns with new single Work for Arseholes. The track will feature on his second studio album Grand Champion available Friday 28 September via Spinning Top Records | Caroline. To commemorate this arduous achievement\, Bibby will tour the nation on a series of capital city and regional dates this October. \nWork for Arseholes is a song about bad habits\, self-reflection and pride\, for better or worse. “I wrote it to make myself feel better about being a thirsty\, unemployed insomniac whilst sitting in my bedroom in Northcote\, Victoria. It didn’t make me feel that much better\, however I have\, for the most part\, avoided working for arseholes ever since and I see that as a great success\,” says Bibby of the track. \nA bastard of an album that is lucky to see the light of day\, Grand Champion was recorded largely in Perth. “It was interrupted by a gruelling return trip across the Nullarbor from Perth-Melbourne in a car that would have been better as a storage container\, taking two months rather than the expected two weeks. This was only one of many setbacks with the completion of this record however we got there in the end\,” muses Bibby. \nFor the latest instalment of Bibby true-blue charm and storytelling\, the Perth singer-songwriter will tour the nation backed by the disorderly Dog Act. Gallivanting across Australia and overseas\, Bibby has collecting a legion of faithful supporters armed with his 2017 single Medicine and debut album Butcher/Hairstylist/Beautician.

SUMMARY:The Met presents Cole Porter's Musical: CAN-CAN
DESCRIPTION:In 2018\, The MET is thrilled to celebrate 60 Years of performing Musical Theatre in Adelaide. To celebrate our 60th Anniversary\, we are very proud to present Cole Porter’s production of CAN-CAN. \nCAN-CAN is set in the Montmartre district of Paris in 1893. \nAt the Bal Du Paradis Cafe\, owned by La Mome Pistache\, the naughty CAN-CAN dance is performed. After a police raid\, the dancers are arrested and the ensuing court case results in Judge Aristide Forrestier personally investigating the charges of ‘lewd and lascivious dancing’. Although forewarned of complications by his friend\, Judge Paul Barriere\, Aristide falls in love with Pistache and is introduced to some diverse characters and situations. \nBoris Adzinidzinadze\, a Bulgarian sculptor\, is courting Claudine the lead dancer at the Bal Du Paradis. Their friends Theophile\, Etienne\, Hercule and Celestine and the vivacious CAN-CAN dancers are all trying to impress the suave\, influential Art Critic\, Hilaire Jussac. The resulting situations are fun-filled and colourful\, climaxing in an exhilarating performance of the CAN-CAN. \nCAN-CAN features some of Cole Porter’s well-known songs: I Love Paris\, C’est Magnifique\, Never Never be an Artist and the exciting CAN-CAN dance. \nThe MET welcomes back Leonie Osborn as Director\, Stephanie Neale in her debut as Musical Director for The MET and Carmel Vistoli as Choreographer.
