SUMMARY:Willunga Almond Blossom Festival
DESCRIPTION:As the Willunga Almond Blossom Festival moves into its 49th year\, this festival has gone all out to present a bigger and brighter event with activities for people of all ages. Of course\, it wouldn’t be an almond blossom festival without plenty of almond-related activities. At the Almond Hub\, visitors can enjoy cooking demonstrations by local chefs\, talk to authors of almond-related books\, browse the historic display of newspaper articles\, stories\, ball gowns\, and other memorabilia and purchase tasty Willunga almonds. Kids can follow the Children’s Almond Trail (which includes a colouring competition)\, name the almond tree knocker on the oval\, and receive a heart shaped tin full of almonds. And be there on Sunday to enter the almond cracking competition – all ages can take part. \nIn the Live Music marquee\, you will see an eclectic range of artists over the two days\, from Willunga High School drama students\, to a Ukraine Dance group\, Sisters of Abundance\, Pulse Band Duo\, Cool4kids and young performers such as Kylie Brice and Modern Day Riot. If music is not your scene\, there are wild and noisy show rides\, craft activities\, market stalls\, wood turning displays\, pony rides and dog agility demonstrations\, plus a visit from Radicool Reptiles. You might even meet a beautiful fairy – and be sure to see the fireworks display on Saturday night\, which is always a highlight of the festival weekend. \nNo Willunga event is complete without a range of delicious food\, wine and beer. Whether you want real ‘carnie food’\, Greek Souvlaki\, pizza\, simple healthy snacks or Asian dishes\, you will find them at the Willunga Almond Blossom Festival. Love at Thirst Sight Wine Bar will provide mulled wine and almond inspired cocktails\, while Little Buddy Brewery offers their craft beer. \nThere is so much more to see and do\, including the Almond Blossom Parade down High Street on Sunday morning.

DESCRIPTION:Described by Alex Ross of the New Yorker as “vast and all-consuming”\, Alvin Curran’s five hour work for solo piano\, ‘Inner Cities’\, is a celebration of space\, light\, meditation and transcendence of time beyond our normal conception. \nThis Sunday\, Gabriella Smart will perform the epic piece in the beautiful resonance of Beaumont House. Smart has previously received rave reviews for past performances of Inner Cities in 2014 in Adelaide\, Melbourne and Sydney\, and in 2015 at MOFO Hobart. \nThe audience are invited to participate in a slow listening experience where the music unfolds over a protracted time-frame\, moving away from the formality and limitations of the condensed\, static listening conventions implicit in the classical traditional concert experience. \nDuring the performance people are free to wander\, absorbing the different architectural and acoustic perspectives of the space. Audiences have been known to meditate\, bring their yoga mat\, or simply sit or lie down. The audience can stay for as long as they wish\, or to leave and return later; there is no expectation that people stay for the entire duration\, allowing them to control their engagement with the artistic experience. \n“My goal\, as always\, was to reduce the musical elements to their ultimate essences\, to repudiate and embrace dualism\, and to emulate\, even in permanent notation\, the feel of spontaneous music-making. The music therefore is open\, unhurried\, brutally lyrical\, quiet\, private and tonal as it is raucous\, aggressively impolite and obsessively meticulous in making the simple relations between tones and durations an unending adventure of personal wonder.”

On Friday July 20\, the cream of the Splendour In The Grass line-up – as well as a few acts exclusive to Spin Off – will be heading to the Wayville Showgrounds in Adelaide for a concentrated super dose of sideshow revelry. \nWe’ll have to keep a lid on who’s playing for now\, but with previous Spin Off line-ups including the likes of Lana Del Rey\, Chet Faker\, Dune Rats and Passion Pit\, rest assured the 2018 edition is coming back bigger and better than ever. The big reveal is happening on Monday April 23\, so keep your eyes peeled. \nFor now\, mark Friday July 20 in your diaries. With Splendour now 100% sold out\, Spin Off is now the best sideshow you could possibly imagine\, because it’s more like 8+ sideshows all wrapped into one! \nABOUT SPIN OFF: Spin Off began life as a way to bring the best acts playing Splendour In The Grass to Adelaide for a big old side serving of the main event. In 2012 the festival launched with a line-up boasting indie goddess Lana Del Rey atop the bill. In 2013 the festival moved venues and returned with up-and-comers at the time including Dune Rats\, Chet Faker and The Jungle Giants. After a lengthy hiatus due to the logistical nightmare of booking artists around their Splendour commitments and sideshows\, the stars have aligned in 2018 as Spin Off returns to its original home at the Showgrounds on Friday July 20.\n__________________________________________________________\nwww.spinofffestival.com.au\n@spinofffestival\n#SpinOffFestival\n2018 Play List: http://bit.ly/SPINOFF2018_listen

SUMMARY:Mick Foleys 20 Years of Hell Tour Adelaide
DESCRIPTION:TWENTY YEARS OF HELL – Mick Foley plus Special Guest AL SNOW! \nClimb on board the “TWENTY YEARS OF HELL” tour for a thrill ride TWENTY YEARS in the making – as Mick Foley\, professional wrestling’s hardcore legend\, takes audiences along for an in-depth look at the most famous match of his hall-of-fame career – and perhaps\, the most talked about match in sports-entertainment history. With his trademark blend of wit and wisdom\, wildness and warmth that shot two of his memoirs to the top of The New York Times best-seller list\, Foley will use every tool in his arsenal – dozens of classic promos\, hundreds of hours onstage\, thousands of matches\, and almost a MILLION published words – to weave a spell-binding web of stories\, designed to take fans along on a journey back to June 28\, 1998 – the night of the infamous “Hell in a Cell” match. It was the night that Foley somehow survived two spine rattling falls off of\, and through the ominous Cell structure\, shrugged off a stint of unconsciousness\, and finished the match with a front tooth lodged in his nose. Finding humor in the most unlikely of places\, “TWENTY YEARS OF HELL” brings the laughs\, but is much more than just a comedic one-man show. He will make you feel like you are there…RIGHT THERE – in Pittsburgh\, Pennsylvania\, watching history write itself. By equal turns laugh out loud funny\, stunningly surreal and heart wrenchingly real\, “TWENTY YEARS OF HELL” is a once in a lifetime chance to hear wrestling’s finest story-teller talking about the night he walked down an aisle a wrestler\, and walked away a legend. \nVIP TICKET INCLUDES:\n– Early entry to venue\n– Premium seating\n– Access to VIP Meet and Greet\n– Free event poster

SUMMARY:Tomfoolery - The Words and Music of Tom Lehrer
DESCRIPTION:TOMFOOLERY – The Words and Music of Tom Lehrer\nAdapted by Cameron Mackintosh and Robin Ray. Musical arrangements by Chris Walker and Robert Fisher. \nTomfoolery\, the words and music of acclaimed American musician\, singer-songwriter satirist and Harvard mathematician Tom Lehrer\, returns to Adelaide for a limited five performance season. The show is being reprised for a 10th Anniversary tribute to the late Michael Fuller\, director and choreographer of the sell-out 2008 Adelaide Fringe season of Tomfoolery at La Boheme. \nDirected by Nicholas Cannon and starring Catherine Campbell\, Hew Parham and Sean Weatherly with chamber pianist Mark Sandon\, the show features performances of 23 of Lehrer’s most famous songs including: Poisoning Pigeons in the Park\, Pollution\, I Got it From Agnes\, National Brotherhood Week\, The Masochism Tango\, The Old Dope Peddler\, The Vatican Rag and We Will All Go Together When We Go. Also included will be the five songs which the deeply conservative Playford and McEwin Liberal Government controversially banned from performance by Lehrer here in Adelaide in 1960. \nThe banned songs: Be Prepared\, My Home Town\, When You are Old and Grey\, The Irish Ballad and I Hold Your Hand In Mine were all considered to be too naughty and controversial for the genteel sensibilities of Adelaide audiences. \nThe Advertiser reported that Sir Lyell McEwin called Lehrer ‘Ghoul singer’ whilst years later Lehrer told The Advertiser the ban was ‘the high point of my career’. \nProducer Sean Weatherly ponders if Adelaide is ready to hear the five songs the Government banned from being performed in 1960\, ‘Perhaps the show will provide a test for Steven Marshall’s ‘tough on crime’ policies\, when we will deliberately defy that proclamation banning the five songs. When you listen to the songs today\, almost 60 year later\, it’s very hard to tell why they were banned at all\, but they are still clever pieces’. \nPhone Bookings on (08) 8375 6855 or online via Loaded Productions website\nwww.loadedproductions.com.au\nwww.facebook.com/LoadedProductionsAustralia
