Back in the beginning\, they were the first West Coast American Punk act to make an international impression\, and the only one to impact in the UK\, where they hit the Top 40. They were hugely influential on the broader Australian alternative scene at the start of the ‘80s\, with their early single “Holiday In Cambodia” and first album “Fresh Fruit for Rotting Vegetables“ selling by the truckload\, and the subsequent single “Too Drunk To F***” becoming news when it was banned. DESCRIPTION:DRW Entertainment is proud to present the return of iconic front man Peter Murphy to Australia for the first time since 2013. \nMurphy first made his mark up front of influential UK group Bauhaus\, who this year celebrate their 40th anniversary. Bauhaus appeared out of the London post-punk scene in 1978 and with their darkly romantic image and brooding songs like the David J penned “Bela Lugosi’s Dead”\, quickly became the touchstone for the nascent goth movement. \nBauhaus\, with Peter Murphy at the helm and David J’s soul wrenching bass\, helped take goth mainstream\, culminating in an appearance in David Bowie’s 1983 film “The Hunger”\, noted by Rolling Stone as one of the greatest rock ‘n’ roll film movie moments of all time.
