SUMMARY:Celtic Illusion
DESCRIPTION:The much-anticipated family event of 2018\, Celtic Illusion is the biggest dance and magical illusion sensation that has been taking Australian audiences by storm.\nThe show for ALL ages cleverly fuses awe-inspiring contemporary Irish Dance with mind-blowing magic and Grand Illusions\, and has now returned to Australian stages for a one-night show.\nWith incredible new choreography\, spellbinding magic\, heart-racing music and a sensory experience like no other\, audiences will be kept on the edge of their seats and left wanting more.\nShowcasing a stellar cast of champion and internationally-acclaimed dancers\, including performers from both Riverdance and Lord of the Dance\, Celtic Illusion offers some of the fastest taps in the world as the dancers’ thunderous rhythm fills the stage in perfect unison. The show is led by Australia’s very own Anthony Street\, the first Australian to perform leading roles in Michael Flatley’s widely-acclaimed Lord of the Dance\, including the very role that Michael Flatley originally performed himself.\nSince its premiere in 2011 the show has performed to sell-out audiences across Australia and New Zealand\, with audiences blown away by the combination of scintillating dance and illusion.\nNow it is your chance to witness the magic that is Celtic Illusion.

SUMMARY:Rob Snarski - Up Close and Personal [Adelaide]
DESCRIPTION:Rob Snarski is a velvet-voiced troubadour and singer with our national treasures The Blackeyed Susans. \nHe’s also a part-time hired gun. Rob has toured Europe as guest vocalist with The Triffids and with The Go-Betweens at the Sydney Festival in January. \nLast year The Blackeyed Susans toured nationally to sell-out shows with the release of “Close Your Eyes and See” – their seventh album and first in over a decade. Their recent performance – with strings – at Melbourne’s Recital Centre will be fondly remembered as one of the most sublime shows in that fabulous venue. \nIn 2017\, Snarski published his whimsical collection of vignettes “You’re Not Rob Snarski – Crumbs From The Cake” with book launches throughout the country. \nExpect an intimate evening of golden songs\, haunting and elusive – from Rob’s acclaimed solo release “Wounded Bird”\, mixed with shimmering new tunes\, a chapter or two from his B O O K\, several covers from “Low Fidelity”\, and perhaps a song from Chad’s Tree\, The Triffids … or The Go-Betweens. \nIn short … expect the past\, the present and the future. \nRob plays two sets solo in Adelaide’s best intimate venue – not to be missed. \nDoors open at 4pm. Rob is onstage at 4.30pm. \n“Smooth and sultry enough to coax life and love back into the most damaged of souls.” (Steve Bell / The Music) \nEvent photo by David Harris

SUMMARY:Machine Head and Live Evil - Classic Rock at the Clovey
DESCRIPTION:Two of Adelaide’s most acclaimed hard rock tribute acts come together for the first time in the north! \nMACHINE HEAD is an Australian institution\, having performed the best of DEEP PURPLE for over two decades. Showcasing all the highlights from Purple’s legendary Mark II era and beyond\, MACHINE HEAD features some of Australia’s most accomplished musicians and audiences continue to be amazed by Mac Johnson’s uncanny ability to channel Ian Gillan in his prime. \nLIVE EVIL is Australia’s premier tribute to BLACK SABBATH with a focus on the Dio years. When Ozzy was fired in ‘79\, many saw it as the end of Sabbath. Instead\, they silenced the critics with the now classic Heaven & Hell album which featured the incredible power and energy of Dio and Vinnie Appice. You’ll hear all the Heaven & Hell masterpieces along with a healthy dose of Rainbow and Ozzy era gems. \nWill full concert production in the big room at the Clovey\, this mammoth double header is a must for all fans of classic rock and metal. Tickets on sale via Eventbrite at the special early bird price of $15 (click the link below) or at the door. LOOK OUT! m/

SUMMARY:The Met presents Cole Porter's Musical: CAN-CAN
DESCRIPTION:In 2018\, The MET is thrilled to celebrate 60 Years of performing Musical Theatre in Adelaide. To celebrate our 60th Anniversary\, we are very proud to present Cole Porter’s production of CAN-CAN. \nCAN-CAN is set in the Montmartre district of Paris in 1893. \nAt the Bal Du Paradis Cafe\, owned by La Mome Pistache\, the naughty CAN-CAN dance is performed. After a police raid\, the dancers are arrested and the ensuing court case results in Judge Aristide Forrestier personally investigating the charges of ‘lewd and lascivious dancing’. Although forewarned of complications by his friend\, Judge Paul Barriere\, Aristide falls in love with Pistache and is introduced to some diverse characters and situations. \nBoris Adzinidzinadze\, a Bulgarian sculptor\, is courting Claudine the lead dancer at the Bal Du Paradis. Their friends Theophile\, Etienne\, Hercule and Celestine and the vivacious CAN-CAN dancers are all trying to impress the suave\, influential Art Critic\, Hilaire Jussac. The resulting situations are fun-filled and colourful\, climaxing in an exhilarating performance of the CAN-CAN. \nCAN-CAN features some of Cole Porter’s well-known songs: I Love Paris\, C’est Magnifique\, Never Never be an Artist and the exciting CAN-CAN dance. \nThe MET welcomes back Leonie Osborn as Director\, Stephanie Neale in her debut as Musical Director for The MET and Carmel Vistoli as Choreographer.
