SUMMARY:The Met presents Cole Porter's Musical: CAN-CAN
DESCRIPTION:In 2018\, The MET is thrilled to celebrate 60 Years of performing Musical Theatre in Adelaide. To celebrate our 60th Anniversary\, we are very proud to present Cole Porter’s production of CAN-CAN. \nCAN-CAN is set in the Montmartre district of Paris in 1893. \nAt the Bal Du Paradis Cafe\, owned by La Mome Pistache\, the naughty CAN-CAN dance is performed. After a police raid\, the dancers are arrested and the ensuing court case results in Judge Aristide Forrestier personally investigating the charges of ‘lewd and lascivious dancing’. Although forewarned of complications by his friend\, Judge Paul Barriere\, Aristide falls in love with Pistache and is introduced to some diverse characters and situations. \nBoris Adzinidzinadze\, a Bulgarian sculptor\, is courting Claudine the lead dancer at the Bal Du Paradis. Their friends Theophile\, Etienne\, Hercule and Celestine and the vivacious CAN-CAN dancers are all trying to impress the suave\, influential Art Critic\, Hilaire Jussac. The resulting situations are fun-filled and colourful\, climaxing in an exhilarating performance of the CAN-CAN. \nCAN-CAN features some of Cole Porter’s well-known songs: I Love Paris\, C’est Magnifique\, Never Never be an Artist and the exciting CAN-CAN dance. \nThe MET welcomes back Leonie Osborn as Director\, Stephanie Neale in her debut as Musical Director for The MET and Carmel Vistoli as Choreographer.

SUMMARY:Clowns ‘Freezing in the Sun’ Single Tour – Adelaide
DESCRIPTION:5th October at Crown & Anchor\, Adelaide\nw/ VOIID & Special Guests TBA \nA punk band not bound by genre\, Clowns have built a career spanning 8 years and 3 critically acclaimed albums that blend punk with all flavours between psychedelia\, garage\, hardcore and power pop. A career that has spawned countless tours the world over and found them playing everywhere between the world’s biggest heavy music festivals to your best mate’s backyard. \n‘Freezing In The Sun’ is a taste of what is yet to come from Clowns. The new single sees bright and jangly guitars juxtaposed with politicised lyrics of discontent. The lyrics demanding ‘tell me what the f%#@ I am supposed to do\, when I know my taxes are paying for kids to be held in Nauru’\, coupled with the dreamy and mesmerising chorus sung by bassist Hanny J. \nIn support of the release\, Clowns will be hitting the road this spring and dragging their femme-shreik pals VOIID along for the ride to make your ears bleed and your boyfriend cry. \nFollow Clowns\nInstagram: http://www.instagram.com/clownsband\nSpotify: https://open.spotify.com/artist/2TuGrkN9bcjWU1GcrUarYn?si=gC0oApgISEKoKlVXrfiolg\nFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/clownsband\nMerch/Vinyl: https://clowns.bigcartel.com/\nTour Dates: www.damagedmusic.com.au/artists/clowns

SUMMARY:Tex Perkins & Matt Walker
DESCRIPTION:Tex Perkins has played a key role in Australian music \nIt’s understandably difficult to pull together a coherent picture of a man whose career has taken in everything from the groundbreaking experimental punktonica of Sydney mid-80s noiseniks Thug to the lilting\, dark country of his recent material with the Dark Horses. \nFrom the hard edged pub rock of the Beasts Of Bourbon’s\, a snarling slice of filthy pub rock to the evocative soundscapes of The Cruel Sea\, whose extraordinary 1991 single ‘This Is Not The Way Home’ placed Perkins’ world-weary growl in a new musical context and heralded the emergence of an entirely original yet archetypically Australian sound. \nThen there’s the Tex\, Don & Charlie albums\, which saw Perkins joining forces with the legendary Don Walker\, Cold Chisel’s pianist and master songwriter and son of the Clarence Valley\, and Charlie Owen\, previously Australia’s best kept musical secret. \nNow is Tex’s exciting new (and long over due) collaboration with Matt Walker (a great artist in his own right) for duo shows. It’s a blues swamp-groove kinda thing that’s a little reminiscent of some of the things in Tex’s back catalogue. Many new originals inhabit the setlist\, but see them now while they still have to flesh out the set with a few Cruel Sea covers! \n“Tex has the swagger\, presence and indomitable attitude that comes from years of fronting some of Australia’s most intense and spirited rock’n’roll bands. His take-no-prisoners approach to performance comes with the sensibility of an artist committed to the subtle (and often unsubtle) nuances of his craft. Throw in an astonishing voice full of power and depth\, mix it with a dry and sardonic sense of humour and what emerges is the reason there is only one Tex Perkins”. (Stuart Coupe.

SUMMARY:Camo & Krooked + ShockOne
DESCRIPTION:Eclipse\, Sub-Culture and Fat Controller present \nTwo of the current kings of Bass music co-headlining one huge night. \nCAMO & KROOKED (Austria)\n+\nSHOCKONE \nSupported by a mashup bass music set from 2x Australian DMC Champion\nDJ OSYRIS\n+\nPATCH\nRARE\n+more tba \nTickets on sale Tuesday August 7th at Midday via moshtix\nEarlybird $33+bf\n1st release $38+bf\n2nd release $45+bf \nCamo & Krooked are doing their first Adelaide performance in nearly 5 years coming off of a standout performance at Adelaide’s first Hospitality event in 2012 and an amazing closing set at 2014 Play New Years Day whilst Shockone recently headlined the full venue FRESH FM party at HQ Complex. This is a limited capacity event that will sell out in advance so please do not sleep on picking up your presale tickets through moshtix. \nCAMO & KROOKED \nThe Camo & Krooked takeover continues to permeate every corner of the electronic music landscape as they take their unique sound to uncharted pastures. in June 2017 the Austrian music-producer A-listers presented the most critical releases of their career… \nAfter three long years of the deepest studio craft they’ve ever committed to\, Camo (Reini) & Krooked (Markus) unveiled their most startling\, detailed and singular body of work yet – ‘MOSAIK’. \nTheir fourth album since emerging in 2007\, ‘MOSAIK’ is a pivotal document that elevates Camo & Krooked’s creative credentials\, vision and technique to brave new levels. The result of years of studio hibernation\, studying vintage analogue instruments\, honing their instantly distinctive signature\, songwriting skills and\, in Markus’s case\, even finding their own singing voice\, ‘MOSAIK’ galvanizes the duo’s position as one of the most exciting\, unique\, innovative and in-demand acts in electronic music. \nThis career-defining chapter of their ever-evolving journey began in November 2016 with the critically-received two-track release: ‘IF I COULD / EMBER’. Released on their own Mosaik Musik imprint (a label they run mutually with Ram and BMG)\, these were the first fresh sounds from the duo since 2013 and were heralded as instant classics. Carefully and cleverly balancing the signature the duo have gradually grafted and crafted since day one with hints that they’d evolved once again\, the release lit the fuse for an explosive wave of milestones and moments that rumble to this day… \nSparks began flying in February 2017 with the first of two key releases: First their premiership iced-soul remix of Noisia’s remarkable ‘THE ENTANGLED’. Then another teaser for MOSAIK – the dusty sunset soul of ‘GOOD TIMES BAD TIMES’ and the delicate\, dreamy soft focus stepper ‘HONESTY’ (which Markus/Krooked sings himself). These major releases were backed up by an impeccable\, detail-rich Essential Mix for BBC Radio 1 and a non-stop run of headline dates throughout the year including key events such as Let It Roll\, Tomorrowland\, Dour\, We Are FSTVL\, National Drum & Bass Awards\, Fabric\, Hospitality\, Foundry\, Detonate\, Noisia Invites and their own festival Nuforms\, Austria’s only drum & bass two-day festival which they personally curate. \nSHOCKONE \nHailing from Perth\, the epicentre of the Australasian drum and bass scene\, ShockOne aka Karl Thomas is fast becoming one of bass music’s major talents. Since the release of ‘The ShockOne EP’ in 2009\, which featured the chart topping ‘Polygon’\, ShockOne has been one of the hottest names in the scene. ‘Polygon’ received major air-play worldwide with high-rotation play listing on Australia’s Triple J radio and BBC Radio 1’s Annie Mac penning it as\, “the biggest drum and bass tune out”. The three drum and bass tunes from the EP achieved the top 3 spot on Beatport’s drum and bass chart\, and ‘Adachigahara’s Theme’ stayed at number 1 on the dubstep chart for over a month. Following this\, ShockOne released his remix of the Brookes Brothers epic ‘Crackdown’ on Viper Recordings ‘Acts of Madmen’ LP which was labeled “Album of the Week” on Zane Lowe BBC Radio 1. \nShockOne followed up his debut EP with his highly anticipated ‘Re-Fix EP’\, a collection of VIP’s and remixes of the massively successful ‘ShockOne EP’. The EP featured Phetsta’s dubstep remix of ‘True Believer’ which was featured in Pendulum’s 2010 Essential Mix on Radio 1\, as well as the Dirtyphonics remix of ‘Polygon’ which was featured on Andy C’s ‘Nightlife 5’ mix\, as well as hitting #1 on the BBC 1Xtra charts. Following on success of two massive EPs under his belt\, ShockOne’s remix discography began rapidly expanding\, with mixes for: Netsky\, Chicane\, Cutline\, Mutya Buena & Agent X\, Skepta\, and Ayah Marar. In mid-2011\, ShockOne released ‘Crucify Me’\, an epic drum & bass/dubstep anthem in which ShockOne also showed his versatility as a vocalist. The single which would serve as the first sneak peak at his forthcoming debut album\, ‘Universus’. This was followed by the second single\, ‘Relapse’\, a dubstep track featuring Sam Nafie on vocals\, as well as a blazing dance floor remix by Tantrum Desire. \n2012 saw ShockOne relocate to London to make his own mark in the spiritual home land of dance\nmusic\, and what better way to do it than the genre bending\, production epic that is ‘Chaos Theory’. Arguably the most ambitious piece of music in ShockOne’s entire discography\, ‘Chaos Theory’ is a cinematic journey featuring the voice over work of Corey Burton. The success this release received was nothing short of spectacular\, holding the #2 on Beatport (only behind Skrillex/Nero collaboration)\, #1 on Trackitdown\, and #1 on iTunes Dance in Australia\, above the likes of Swedish House Mafia and Skrillex. The tune received high rotation airplay on Triple J radio Australia\, was\nselected as Crissy Criss’ “Ace of Clubs” track on BBC 1Xtra\, featured in Drumsound & Bassline\nSmith’s Radio 1 Essential Mix and received extensive DJ support from Knife Party\, Nero\, Chase & Status\, Matrix & Futurebound\, Sub Focus\, xKore\, Excision\, Camo & Krooked\, 501\, Drumsound & Bassline Smith\, Delta Heavy\, DJ Hype\, and many more. \nThe year of the apocalypse saw ShockOne tour extensively with two sellout solo tours of Australia\, constant sold out shows throughout Europe as well as headlining slots at festivals such as Creamfields\, The Big Day Out\, Stereosonic\, and Origin NYE in Perth. 2013 saw Shockone release his groundbreaking debut LP ‘Universus’ to critical acclaim. A sonic journey representing the lifespan of a universe\, the scope of this semi-concept album was nothing if\nnot ambitious. Released on Viper & One Love recordings\, the album showcases the wide ranging musical expertise of ShockOne taking the listener on a multi-genre odyssey all the way from the big bang with ‘Singularity’ and ‘Chaos Theory’\, right through to the collapse of ShockOne’s universe with the Vangelis-inspired modern day electronic symphony that is ‘Light Cycles’. Universus hit the number 1 spot on the Australian ARIA albums chart and the iTunes chart within its first week of release\, solidifying Shockone’s reputation as Australia’s premier bass music producer.
