This package of the Practice or Qualifying Journey will take place during the October school holidays in the Mt Lofty Ranges, with a pre-requisite planning session to occur on the Monday 29th of SEPTEMBER, between 5:30-8:00pm, in Glynde.

The journey includes a 2 hour pre-trip planning session, all instruction, maps and compasses, a backpack, stove, fuel, tent, sleeping mat, raincoat, transport and highly experienced and accredited bushwalking supervisors for the journey.

During the planning and preparation session, our experienced and accredited instructors will help you develop the skills necessary to complete your Practice or Qualifying Journey. The session will provide you with an introduction to minimal impact camping, basic navigation training, menu, equipment and route planning, as well as an introduction to risk management throughout your Adventurous Journey. The planning session is required by all Duke of Edinburgh participants wishing to achieve their Bronze or Silver Award. Differentiation and expectations will vary relative to bronze or silver awards.

The Adventurous Journey is scheduled for Wednesday the 7th to Friday the 9th of OCTOBER. This three day journey will occur in the Mt Lofty Ranges area with the route being established during the planning session. There will be a minimum of one experienced and accredited instructor with each group of up to seven participants as well as an assessor for the Qualifying Journey. There will also be a debrief session upon completion of the Qualifying Journey.
