Celebrate the new year with inspiring stories from First Nations artists. Gifted singer songwriter Vonda Last, Ngaanyatjarra people, shares powerful stories and intimate memories of Aboriginal Grandmothers. Artist Kent Morris, Barkindji people, shares insights into his work on display in the Tarnanthi exhibition, and Sonya Rankine, Ngarrindjeri/Ngadjuri/Narungga/Wirangu people from Lakun Mara shares stories and teaches the traditionally known Ngarrindjeri weaving stitch which is also the same as what the Ngadjuri people use.

Focus your attention on Tarnanthi 2021 and join a tour with one of our knowledgeable Gallery Guides looking at selected works in the exhibition.

Grandmothers Song
Gifted singer-songwriter Vonda Last performs a selection of original songs. Vonda’s approach to storytelling is warm and honest as she draws on classical, gospel, country and soul influences to paint melodic tunes with a strong sense of the Australian landscape and way of life.

The Studio
Drop into The Studio to create your own boab sculpture and cover it in designs inspired by Tarnanthi feature artist John Prince Siddon, Walmajarri people, Western Australia.

Tarnanthi Artist talk
Kent Morris
Join Nici Cumpston OAM, Artistic Director of Tarnanthi and artist Kent Morris, Barkindji people, NSW for an insightful talk about his work in the 2021 Tarnanthi exhibition. Morris’ work of art titled; Barkindji Blue Sky – Ancestral Connections #10c reconstructs the built environment through a First Nations lens, rotates, segments and mirrors images from his earlier photographic series to create images that cycle infinitely.
