Set in the picturesque town of Willunga on the Fleurieu Peninsula, every October, Fleurieu Folk Festival transforms Willunga’s Recreation Park into South Australia’s largest and friendliest folk music event. We present the best local, interstate and international folk musicians in a three-day music celebration covering a broad range of genres, including traditional and contemporary folk, acoustic, Celtic, blues, Americana, roots, bluegrass and more.
With workshops, sessions, dancers, blackboard concerts, musical theatre, poetry, spoken word and children’s entertainment, local food, wine and market stalls, there is truly something for everyone! We even provide a special venue – Cafe AcousticA- just for people who want to come along and play their own music and a Busk Stop for buskers! And you will find music enthusiasts playing together in every niche and corner.
2023 also sees the return of the SPACE JAMS stage for the second year at Fleurieu Folk Festival. SPACE JAMS is a youth-oriented safe space for all to have fun, party, play, sing, dance and enjoy some of the best live music that South Australia has to offer.
Promoting young South Australian musicians has always been a significant priority for the Fleurieu Folk Festival. Each year, we nominate an outstanding folk musician aged between 14 and 25 to represent South Australia in Folk Alliance Australia’s youth showcase concerts at the National Folk Festival in Canberra. The aim of the Youth Awards is to boost the profile of young performers and introduce, support and encourage them to the next level of their development.
Fleurieu Folk Festival has proudly received the Community Event of the Year award in the City of Onkaparinga‘s Australia Day Awards four times: in 2014, 2016, 2020 and 2022.
