There’s plenty of evidence to show that getting outside to stimulate the 5 senses can have a positive impact on your recovery from anxiety or depression and suicidal thoughts. \nStaying connected with friends and family and planning activities together can also help increase wellbeing and confidence. This event was aimed at doing that by creating networks with those facing similar issues. \nIn 2017\, our first walk\, hundreds of participants walked in honour of a loved one lost to suicide and many walked because of their suicide survival. Pop this one in your calender for 2018. \nFamily Friendly Activities will follow the walk from 11.00am to 2.00pm.

As a long time performer of the Adelaide Fringe\, York is bringing her 5 star comedy cabaret to one of Adelaide’s most beloved venues\, The A Club. \n Starting with it’s origins on twitter the term “Adulting” has become a huge online trend basically describing or congratulating oneself for doing “Grownup things”.  Things such as holding down a job\, paying your bills on time\, cooking dinner (that doesn’t just involve going to a Macca’s Drive-Thru) and even doing your taxes. \nTash York has paved a lot of her cabaret success from her previous award-winning show These Things Take Wine which showcased a lot of her own life experiences and this show promises much more of this signature style. ‘There seems to be a huge divide as to whether “Adulting” is a good or bad thing. DESCRIPTION:Do you recall the “BP Deepwater Horizon”? It was a devastating oil spill that occurred in the Gulf of Mexico and was the largest marine oil spill in the history of the petroleum industry. Thousands of birds\, mammals\, fish\, and sea turtles were soaked with leaked oil\, many studies leading to grim outcomes for many of the species. What would we do if we saw an oil spill on one of our pristine coastlines?\n\nA solution to this wicked problem has been recently invented by Dr Justin Chalker. Justin has developed a sponge-like material that soaks up crude oil and diesel spills using an absorbent rubber made from waste cooking oil and sulphur\, itself a byproduct of the petroleum industry.\n\nFurthermore\, it can capture the largest sources of mercury emissions produced here in Australia\, and across the globe.\n\nCome and listen to Justin discuss his interest in taking waste and making it into new and useful polymers\, where he will present the three applications using this polymer to benefit the environment and human well-being (including unpublished work):\n\n\noil spill remediation\nmercury remediation and\nsustainable subsistence gold mining.\n\n— \n\n5.30pm | Pre-lecture refreshments\n6.00pm | Lecture\n\n— \nThrough its education and research programs\, Flinders encourages new ways of thinking\, and supports experimentation and daring\, with the mission to contribute on an international scale through ‘changing lives and changing the world’.
