This will be followed by an intimate conversation with Charles and Code Like a Girl CEO and Co-Founder\, Ally Watson. \nHear about Charles’ experience bringing her creativity to coding\, finding her tribe\, and why she calls herself a STEMinist. \nSchedule\n6:15pm: Doors open. Grab a drink and some nibbles\n6:30pm: Take a seat and relax whilst our MC welcomes you\n6:45pm: Seminar with Charles Gray\, followed by conversation with Ally Watson\n8:00pm: Networking time\n8:30pm: CLOSE\, sorry ladies time to say your farewells! \nAbout Charles Gray\nCharles T. Gray is a proud mathbassador for the Australian Mathematical Sciences Institute’s Choose Maths program. Her role as a math-talking-doing-advocate grrrl is a relatively new career development\, after spending almost twenty years working as a classically-trained pianist. She is currently undertaking a PhD in statistical data science. With an interest in outreach\, she takes an active role in the Victorian branch of the Statistical Society of Australia\, as well as RLadies. She likes to think of herself as a data detective who tells stories with data.

SUMMARY:PECS 1 Adelaide
DESCRIPTION:Individuals who are nonverbal or have limited speech need a communication system they can start using right now. If you work in special education or have a child with a diagnosis you’ve probably heard of the Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS). It’s well-known because it’s an evidence-based practice and when implemented with fidelity\, it works! PECS provides an immediately useful method for requesting things\, actions and people\, in a way that requires and promotes social interaction. Using the principles of applied behaviour analysis\, PECS starts by teaching spontaneous requesting and as quickly as possible\, moves on to responding to questions as well as commenting about things in the environment. An added attraction for preschool children with ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) is the high proportion of children who acquire independent speech after the introduction of PECS. However\, it’s never too late to start PECS; excellent progress has been made with people who were taught PECS as adults. It’s also important to note that while PECS was initially developed for young children with autism\, it has been used successfully with a variety of learners of all ages who have various cognitive\, physical and communication challenges. \nWith our training courses\, you will learn to implement PECS – the evidence-based\, AAC system of choice for people with autism worldwide.

SUMMARY:Natural Surface Rock Climbing on SA's BEST cliffs
DESCRIPTION:Experience natural surface rock climbing with qualified employees and quality equipment.  Since 1989\, Venture Corporate Recharge has been successfully taking people up and down the best cliffs in South Australia\, Victoria\, and further afield. \nWe offer a range of programs for beginners to the more experienced climbers\, to go rock climbing and/or abseiling for individuals or groups. \nThe most popular sites close to Adelaide that we use are the cliffs of  Morialta Conservation Park and The Onkaparinga National Park. Morialta Conservation Park\, 15 minutes away from the city is a gorgeous setting with views over the Adelaide Metropolis and St Vincent Gulf are awe-inspiring. Onkaparinga Gorge\, south of the city is a wild setting and feels remote\, and the views over the Onkaparinga River are fabulous. \nNo experience necessary – Our guides will provide all equipment\, instruction and technical expertise. We set up a variety of climbs for differing levels of fitness and experience\, to ensure you get the chance to have fun\, ‘top out’\, perhaps learn some new skills (or refresh old ones) and push yourself as hard as you wish. \nWe have climbing days at both Morialta and down at ‘the Onk’ planned for through out the year available to be booked on now.  If you have something else in mind\, or want your own private climbing experience\, please get in touch and we will endeavor to make it happen.

SUMMARY:2018 Fitzy's 5 Fun Run
DESCRIPTION:2018 Fitzy’s 5 Fun Run – www.fitzys5.com.au\nSunday 5th August\n5k Run/Walk + Kids 1k \nJoin in on one of Adelaide’s favourite 5K fun runs & walks which is perfectly placed as a key lead up event to Adelaide’s iconic Sunday Mail City-Bay Fun Run – giving you an extra opportunity to promote your charity fundraising. \nThe event is named in honour of Australian running legend David “Fitzy” Fitzsimons and assists in raising funds to support the work of the Leukemia Foundation. We encourage participants to make a donation during the entry process. \nThe picturesque 5km flat road loop course in inner city Adelaide takes in many of Adelaide’s most iconic locations including the River Torrens\, Adelaide Oval\, and the North Adelaide parklands. Grab your friends and give this one a try. \nHonour a Legend – Seek a Cure \nENTRY & INFO: www.fitzys5.com.au \nWho was Fitzy?\nDavid “Fitzy” Fitzsimons was one of Australia’s leading distance runners in the 1970’s. Renowned for being able to push himself to the point of absolute exhaustion\, the stories about Fitzy are as legendary as his racing feats. Fitzy won 8 Australian Championships over 5000m and 10000m\, including the double on 3 occasions. A dual Olympian\, an Olympic finalist over 10000m\, a 6th placing in the 1974 Commonwealth Games and a bronze medal over 5000m at the 1977 World Cup made Dave Fitzsimons one of the greats. A proud South Australian\, Fitzy had a lively sense of humour and was a devoted husband and proud father. Forever a picture of fitness\, sadly\, Fitzy was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. As tenacious and determined as Fitzy was\, even he couldn’t beat this opponent and tragically\, he passed away on September 7\, 2008 at the age of 58.
