Some Info on Break Through Mental Health Foundation…
Breakthrough Mental Health Research Foundation is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to tackling mental health head on.
As Australia’s only dedicated mental health research foundation, we exist to support ground breaking research that will help to transform the lives of those affected by mental health issues.
Breakthrough identified that mental health issues were growing at an alarming rate, with existing services unable to slow the growth of mental illness – the biggest health challenge in our lifetime – and its devastating impacts.
Recognising that more needed to be done, a foundation dedicated to fixing the problem through mental health research has been established.
We recognise the size of the problem and the need for a new approach based on research.

South Australia has a unique opportunity to develop a mental health research strategy for the state, reducing the impact for one in two Australian adults who will experience mental illness in their lifetime.
Why is Leesa raising the money?
In Australia, one in five people have a diagnosed mental health condition and nine Australians die from suicide every single day.
Mental illness has undoubtedly become one of the biggest health challenges in our lifetime and continues to grow at an alarming rate. Breakthrough Mental Health Research Foundation is doing something to change that and they need your help!
In June 2022, Breakthrough are heading to the Northern Territory on a once-in-a-lifetime fundraising adventure. A team of dedicated supporters will be trekking the Larapinta Trail to raise funds so Breakthrough can continue investing in mental health research and transform the lives of Australians living with mental illness.
Having been diagnosed with Depression and Anxiety over 16 years ago, Leesa truly appreciate the work that Breakthrough are doing and think this is a great way to get the community involved, talk about mental health, have some fun and raise some money for research.
