SUMMARY:CloZee w/ Imagined Herbal Flows at Adelaide Hall
DESCRIPTION:CloZee and IHF\n10/4 at Adelaide Hall\nDoors are at 8PM.\n19+\nBuy your tickets at http://bit.ly/clozee-100418-tickets \nListen to CloZee on Spotify ➡️http://bit.ly/Spotify-CloZee \nIn a feedback loop of adventure\, music\, and love\, CloZee and her fans are ready to let the force of the sound carry everyone to places they have never been before. Being based simultaneously in Toulouse\, France and on stages across the world makes this electronic musician stand out. \nWith inspirations far afield from music – a painting\, the weather\, a dream – in her craft\, Chloé Herry’s derivations are difficult to trace. Under the broad structure of electronic and bass music\, and informed by sound the world over\, Clozee finds her best fit in World Bass’ corner. \nCloZee has performed on many continents: from Coachella to India\, on four US Tours\, and everywhere around her native France. She is a standout on the roster of her labels\, Gravitas Recordings & Otodayo Records. Followers in many languages drive streams counted in millions. But art’s ability to transport others is this talented producer’s special magic – manifest whenever someone presses play. \nIn the way the clean curve of a Japanese roof is understated and exotic\, CloZee pulls her power from a bold simplicity. Her classical guitar roots allow her an informed\, melodic space that draws influence from flamenco to edIT of The Glitch Mob. This melting pot of instrumentation and cinematic flair puts listeners in a mood to move\, with international crowds now cultivating the evolution of her genre. Chloé says she rarely lays down only electronic sounds. Her favorite sources are organic and real. \nTo describe her life\, CloZee grins and dramatizes her mind exploding. With traction growing stateside\, she is set to expand far beyond the transformational festivals and tours where she grew the same roots that nourished Bassnectar\, Beats Antique\, and Bonobo. CloZee is breaking through the canopy and into the sun. Come see her fly. \nWith support from: \nIHF\nhttp://bit.ly/Spotify-IHF\nhttps://soundcloud.com/ihfmusic

SUMMARY:Gerry Wedd and Julia McInerney: SA Artist Commissions 2018
DESCRIPTION:ACE Open South Australian Artist Commissions 2018\n—————————————-\nGerry Wedd\, SONGS FOR A ROOM\nJulia McInerney\, The Garden\n—————————————-\nOPENING\nFriday 27 July\, 5pm\, free\nOpening remarks by Penny Griggs\, General Manager SALA Festival \nEXHIBITION DATES\n28 July—15 September \n—————————————-\nGerry Wedd\, SONGS FOR A ROOM\n—————————————-\nEnter the iconic world of South Australia’s most celebrated potter\, fringe dweller\, savant gardener and pretty-good-surfer\, Gerry Wedd. \n‘SONGS FOR A ROOM’ draws on 40 years of artistic practice and an encyclopaedia of personal interests to present Wedd’s most ambitious project yet. Inspired by Victor Hugo’s tiled dining room\, more than 1000 handmade tiles and domestic objects form a frenzied and immersive installation that subverts traditional museum displays of domestic handicrafts. Wedd creates a dizzyingly opulent world\, where song writing\, Delft tile painting\, popular culture and art history collide with current socio-political issues. \nAs part of Wedd’s commentary on the commodification of art and culture in a time when people continue to live below the poverty line\, each tile in this speculative shelter is available to purchase\, with 50% of proceeds donated to Adelaide Day Centre for Homeless Persons. \nPUBLIC PROGRAMS\n—A History of Ceramics with Gerry Wedd\nSaturday 11 August 2pm-3pm | Free\, no bookings required\nRead more: http://bit.ly/GWHistoryCeramics \n—A Sunday Drive: Studio visit and tile making workshop\nSunday 9 September\, 10am-4.30pm | $175/$139\nBookings and more information: http://bit.ly/GWSundayDrive \nGERRY WEDD (born 1957) is one of Australia’s most celebrated ceramicists. Having studying jewellery\, painting\, and drawing\, Wedd obtained a Masters in Fine Art from the University of South Australia in 2005. Early on in his career\, Wedd became a graphic artist for quintessential Australian design company Mambo\, where he continued to design for them until 2006. Wedd has exhibited extensively in Australia and internationally\, including Havana Bienal\, JamFactory\, Ian Potter Museum of Art and Victoria and Albert Museum. He has received numerous awards including the Hobart Art Prize in 2010 and the 1998 Sidney Myer Fund International Ceramics Award and is represented in public collections around the country including the Art Gallery of South Australia\, Powerhouse Museum – Museum of Applied Arts and Sciences\, National Gallery of Australia\, National Gallery of Victoria\, Shepparton Art Museum and Queensland University of Technology. \n—————————————-\nJulia McInerney\, The Garden\n—————————————-\nTraverse literature and sculpture in ‘The Garden’\, a new immersive exhibition by Julia McInerney\, 2017 winner of SALA Festival’s major contemporary art award. \nBuilding on McInerney’s celebrated previous works\, the exhibition expands on her interest in translation between text and material forms\, as well as the symbolic significance of the apple. ‘The Garden’ comprises new photographic works\, hand-carved Applewood sculptures\, and a large-scale floor installation of hand-cast concrete tiles\, all ordered and contained in a monochromatic vista. \nThrough her ongoing interest in studies of literature and reading\, McInerney approaches Walter Benjamin’s idea of ‘reading oneself backwards’ in ‘The Garden’. How can our recollection of past events inform our present and future experiences? \nPUBLIC PROGRAMS\n—Footnotes\nVarious dates | Free\, no bookings required\nRead more: http://bit.ly/JMfootnotes \nJULIA MCINERNEY (born 1989\, Adelaide) lives and works in Melbourne\, Victoria.
