Learn sashiko, a traditional Japanese stitching technique used to reinforce or mend cloth items, in this workshop. It is particularly decorative, and can be used in all sorts of creative ways.
No prior sewing skills are required – if you can hold a needle, you’ll manage nicely!!
In this workshop, you’ll learn about some traditional sashiko patterns and techniques, but also look at modern alternatives and how to design your own.
You will also find out about boro mending, a lovely layered method using sashiko stitching.
Everything you need will be provided, however, you can also bring something to mend, if you like – jeans you want to repair, or denim/other fabrics to patch together, for example.
$50 for 2.5 hour workshop. Please note this workshop is at The Adelaide Remakery, 18 Young St, Adelaide.
Spaces are strictly limited so we can maintain appropriate social distancing, so book quickly!
Workshops are suitable for anyone over 10 years.
