Sunday Roast serves up a wildly delusional satirical play on the ritual of family dinner… with a shocking twist. Through wild characterisation, 2 actors will bring to life 8 characters.
Fourteen-year-old Rupert has been taken into foster care by the Giles family. A household made up of a laid-back father, an over-bearing mother, two squabbling sisters, a pretentious son-in-law, a depressive son and a wildly sexual daughter. Rupert is out of his depth when he enters this unconventional home, waiting patiently for a ‘seat’ at the table. It’s a family gathering, sure, but with a twist.
Award winning Kiwi playwright, Thomas Sainsbury, presents a genius play that forces his audience to laugh-out-loud to themes which would otherwise cause revulsion.
Bringing Sunday Roast to life is ‘Home and Away’ heart-throb, Courtney Ally Miller, and Melbourne’s notable improviser, Ben McCarthy. Together they will provide a fine exhibition of the actor’s craft by incessantly switching between multiple characters in the play. This production is creatively consulted by Fabio Motta.
“8 stellar performances by 2 extremely charismatic performers. Slick, Sharp, Delicious.” – Melbourne Fringe 23′
“This gleeful Kiwi satire finds comedy in mayhem and debauchery.” NZ HERALD
