The 2024 Clare Valley SCA Gourmet Week, Australia’s first and oldest food and wine festival, this year celebrates its 40th anniversary and has a jam-packed program with more than 85 events, befitting of this impressive milestone.
The 10-day festival can be enjoyed in three parts; Festival Weekend (17-19 May), Breathe It In (20-24 May) and Land of the Long Lunch (25-26 May), whether that be for a day, weekend or over the whole week.
Check out some of our top picks!
The Festival Weekend kicks off with new events, such as Fire and Wines at Skillogalee Estate, Sip, Savour, Celebrate: A Homage to 40 Years of Clare Valley Gourmet at Pikes Wines’ Slate Restaurant, VinoVibe Fest celebrating 50 years of Knappstein Wines, The Sailing Club – the Unofficial Afterparty, and crowd favourites returning, including the Cellars without Doors Degustation Dinner.
Midweek, immerse yourself in the region as cellar doors open back vintage, hard to find, and special wines over the Breathe It In series of events. Some highlights include Campfire Conversations with Winemaker at Sevenhill Cellars, Explore Kilikanoon Shiraz and Wines by KT’s Sips From the Cellar.
The week wraps with The Land of the Long Lunch. Enjoy long lunches across the region in either unique locations or well-loved venues. Some of the events include; Knappstein Wines Vineyard Long Lunch, Paulett Wines Gold Medal 6 Course Degustation Lunch, Navigating Diversity with Ali Paulett, Marnie Roberts and KT. Finish the off week at the “hottest” event on the program, the Burning of the Barrels at Eldredge Wines.
To mark the 40th anniversary, a special Clare Valley Wine Hall of Fame Gala Dinner and Awards Presentation will be held at O’Leary Walker Wines on the evening of Friday 24 May, whereby the: Hall of Fame Legends, Rising Star, Viticulturist, Regional Ambassador and Winemaker will be inducted into the Clare Valley Wine Hall of Fame.
