Presented by Music SA as part of the City of Adelaide’s Christmas Festival, we bring you WORLD FESTIVE.
Artwork by @lcnd_
A Christmas Street Party with a Live Music stage will take over Ebenezer Place from 2pm – 8pm Saturday 11 December, with special features of multicultural groups celebrating Christmas in their traditional culture and language. Something to learn and be entertained by the many sounds of Christmas around the planet.
With major restrictions in place for international travel, we are all inching for some worldly culture and what better way than to demonstrate the celebrations of music and art during Christmas, and with our local rich and diverse multicultural communities.
All artists will be invited to share their traditional Christmas celebrations from their homeland and teach audiences the different ways other cultures rejoice this time of year. Cross and mixed media is encouraged, so other traditional elements such as dance, costume and even food may be integrated into the performances.
From Cuba to West Africa, South America to Japanese, Puerto Rico to Punjab, we’ll travel far and wide to rejoice in some of the most vibrant musical cultures across the seas.
Featuring local//global sensations:
Lazaro Numa (Cuba)
Cartel Afinke (Puerto Rico)
Jambu Loco (Brazil)
Ebby Allotey (Ghana, Africa)
Hosted by Parvyn (Aus/India)
PLUS demonstrations and workshops to be announced….
Supported by World Music SA, Derringers and participating bars Belgian Beer Cafe and Hidden Brew Taphouse.
“Come warm your senses with live music from across the planet, and step into a new cultural landscape with WORLD FESTIVE.”
