Festival fever is set to reach the fringes of Adelaide’s South, as Morphettville Racecourse prepares to launch as an Adelaide Fringe venue for the first time. With 37 shows presenting 139 performances over 27 jam-packed days, the inaugural Fringeville at Morphettville Racecourse is set to be a celebration of art, theatre and music throughout Mad March.
Fringeville brings the Adelaide Fringe to the southern suburbs for the first time, creating a hub of music, theatre, cabaret and comedy suitable for the whole family.
Fringeville is part of a wider, innovative rejuvenation that sees Morphettville Racecourse move in a new direction, activating the grounds for more than just racing and laying the way for a fleet of exciting new local and international initiatives.
Alongside Fringeville, 2019 will see Morphettville Racecourse welcome new initiatives and play host to major South Australian events including the Killer Queen Experience’s Rhapsody Tour on February 9th and the much-anticipated return of Nutella-Pallooza on Easter Saturday, April 20th.
“This year, we saw an opportunity to take the beautiful grounds of Morphettville beyond the racing season, expand what we do here at Morphettville and welcome more visitors to this iconic venue,” says Morphettville Racecourse Marketing Manager, Luke Schapel.
“We couldn’t think of a better way to do this than through South Australia’s most renowned and beloved festival, the Adelaide Fringe.”
The new partnership will see Morphettville Racecourse host a diverse month-long program, from The Wind in The Willows, Humphrey Bear and The Tales of Beatrix Potter, to ALMA Latin Dance Festival, Jane Austen: Private Eye, My Grandfather was a Drag Queen and Sex & The Musical, and everything in between.
Visitors are invited to enjoy the entire Fringeville experience and all that it has to offer. Spend balmy evenings on the lush lawns, lay out a picnic rug and relax before a show, enjoy Morphettville’s food offerings after a night at the cabaret, or bring the kids for a day of entertainment at one of the many fun children’s shows on offer.
A family-friendly venue, Morphettville Racecourse makes visiting easy, with the tram on its doorstep and over 1,000 free carparking spaces available throughout the festival period. For more information on Fringeville and to purchase tickets, visit www.morphettville.com.au/fringeville.
