Fringe Review: The Pageant ★★★

Follow the folie à deux hosts – Victoria Beauvoir, and Roger Seahorse in The Pageant as they take the micky out of children’s beauty pageants across Australia.

The Pageant is an under budgeted, yet perfectly curated duo with big hair, big smiles, and larger than life personalities. Victoria and Roger showcase their production to a tiny outback town in Australia called – Adelaide. They produce, create, and write their own content. Victoria was statuesque and vivacious. She can strut her stuff better than any one of us heel wearing ladies. Five-foot Roger showed off a resplendent Grant Denyer-esque smile, with a dapper rhinestone-lined suit ensemble to match. The costumes were brilliant. However, their improv with audience participation seemed a little awkward and needed some work. Overall, The Pageant presents an important message – highlighting the dangers of placing value in focusing on children’s appearances as judged through the eyes of others.
