HALAL FOOD FEST RAISING MONEY FOR GAZA ACROSS 2025 EVENT

Adelaide’s annual Halal Food Fest will take over Victoria Square for
three days this October, its aim this year to fundraise for Gaza.

With the mantra ‘to feed Gaza as well as Adelaide,’ the popular
festival aims to raise $50,000 through a donation of $10 meals.

Halal Food Fest Creative Director, Mohammed Hassan, says reaching 5,000
meals is an achievable target across 3-5 October.

“We’re in Victoria Square for three days this year which is an
increase on the two-day event in 2024,” says Mohammed. “Our festival
is about bringing all cultures together, and we want to stand with the
people of Gaza who are suffering.”

Halal Food Fest celebrates multicultural cuisines from around the world,
encouraging an exploration of flavours and delicacies.

More than 30 nations are represented, each with striking food trucks and
featuring many cultures which the average person might not associate
with Halal classification. Halal is defined as food prepared with
permissible means in the Muslim faith and is considered wholesome.

Halal Food Fest representative, Bassil Ekordy, says the festival
maintains its reputation of having the largest variety of cuisines
offered in an Adelaide food festival.

“This is Adelaide’s biggest showcase of not just food, but halal
food, which most people already consume without even knowing at some of
their favourite restaurants,” says Bassil. It’s a unique experience
and gives everyone the chance to embrace Adelaide’s community.”

Cuisines taking over the square including Korean, Moroccan, Indian,
South-East Asian, Palestinian, Syrian, Belgian, North African, Greek,
Italian, Australian, Afghan, Uzbek and Turkish.

Halal Food Fest is a family-friendly event with various entertainment
also on offer across the weekend.

Entry is FREE and will take place in Victoria Square from Friday, 3rd
October to Sunday, 5th October from 11:30am to 10:00pm.
