INTRODUCING SYNC – PERSONALISED SELTZERS IN TUNE WITH WHAT CONSUMERS WANT

In a world-first, South Australian company, SYNC, uses a personalised artificial intelligence (AI) system to create the ideal flavoured seltzer for any consumer.

SYNC blends AI, flavour science, and consumer feedback to create their line of sugar-free beverages from a core range to unique tastes. The AI Bar understands a person’s unique flavour preferences after just a few questions, to instantly create a personalised hard seltzer made precisely for their taste profile.

The foundation for SYNC was set with a 2021 collaboration between Denham D’Silva and the Australian Institute for Machine Learning. Ranked among the world’s top 10 AI research institutes, the pioneer use of AI in beverage creation led to SYNC, founded by Denham and Trent Fahey. Trent, as a third-generation publican saw how this initiative represented the future.

SYNC Co-founder and CEO, Denham D’Silva, says SYNC brings transparency to the growth of data collection to allow customers to control of how their drinks are made thanks to the unique technology.

“For the first time, consumers control their data and with the power of AI in their hands, they can do more than choose what they drink, they can shape it,” says Denham.

“Our (patent-pending) AI Bar is redefining what personalisation means in beverages. It represents the future of how technology and taste come together – intelligent, interactive, and designed around the customer.

“SYNC flips the script of global consumerism, where beverage companies are using data and technology to sell more of what _they_ make, not what people may actually want to drink. By having the power to shape what’s in their glass, SYNC produces quality beverages that allow drinkers to create authentic communities,” says Denham.

RRP is $55 per mixed 10 pack, with the core range consisting of Sour Lime, Orange, Raspberry, Mango, and Cola. Flavour profiles can then be created from these base flavours.

Additional flavours will be added to the SYNC range, which will be based on consumer feedback. Reviews left via QR codes will allow the customer to suggest their desired flavours.

Dual AI Bar activations will take place this summer across The HWY Hotel and The Sandbar in Christies Beach on 18th December (4pm to 7pm) and 20th December (4pm to 7pm) respectively. Their customers will help create new flavours, demonstrating how local businesses are using AI to bring communities together.

“The HWY will elevate its customer-first approach by letting locals create the HWY Seltzer flavour they want to enjoy this summer, while The Sandbar is teaming up with regional businesses like The Flour Store to craft a true community flavour,” says Denham.

“It’s a great example of local operators using AI to connect the community and for the Sandbar and Flour Store, a way to support a region impacted by the algal bloom – offering a fun, novel way to show support without getting into the ocean,” says Denham.

Denham started his career in finance, where he was Merrill Lynch’s youngest Regional Vice President across the Asia Pacific division. In 2005 he changed course to found award-winning craft brewery Barossa Valley Brewing.

Trent Fahey is a third-generation publican with a background in Computer Systems Engineering. After time at Motorola, he returned to manage operations across major South Australian venues including the Lakes Resort Hotel, Bridgeway Hotel and Maid & Magpie. Trent is now focused on combining his engineering skill set with decades of hospitality experience to drive innovation in the industry.

SYNC seltzers are now available locally across selected outlets and will be available nationally from January 2026.
