LOVE AND PINK DIAMONDS CONQUER ALL AT GERARD MCCABE FOR SALA 2022

The evolution of Gerard McCabe’s Amore pink diamond ring will be put on show during the 2022 South Australian Living Artists (SALA) Festival as a mixed media exhibition.

Jewellery Design – From Pandemic Woes to Pink Diamond Luxury, on display from August 1-14 in the Adelaide Arcade concourse, details the visual creative process of Gerard McCabe Designer, Nazanin Mohhamadkhani, in her creation of the one-of-a-kind piece worth $179,995.

Co-Managing Director and Head of Design, Justin McCabe, says this showcase is part of Gerard McCabe’s continued commitment to excellence in their field across four generations.

“This exhibition is a complex mix of emotion, flair, family, rarity and rising to the occasion,” says Justin. “At Gerard McCabe we greatly value beautiful ingredients, quality craftsmanship and a boldness to be different… I am proud of the work that our talented team produce.”

The ring itself will be on display at the launch event on Wednesday, 3rd August, alongside beautiful photographs by Michelle Kenney and Claire Pasion and paintings that first inspired Nazanin to create the Amore piece.

Co-Managing Director, Jessica McCabe-Moran, says presenting the exhibition during SALA’s 25th year was about sharing the creative process behind this bespoke piece.

“At Gerard McCabe, we love to tell stories through our jewellery design,” says Jessica. “This exhibition has allowed us to reveal the full story and inspiration behind our impressive Amore pink diamond ring design.”

“We hope that visitors to Adelaide Arcade enjoy this window into our creative process and the gorgeous artworks that have been created by the talented Nazanin, Michelle and Claire,” says Jessica.

During the pandemic, Nazanin painted the raw and dark emotions many felt at that time. She formed an idea based on her thoughts of humans needing to embrace again, evolving into a design lifting those raw emotions from the darkness.

“Featuring a pink diamond at the centre embraced by diamond layers and set in mixed gold, Amore is based on the power of touch. The joy those close to us bring through the support they give,” says Nazanin.

Nazanin, whose creativity flourished from her childhood in Iran, says this is a special insight into the creative process that goes into many Gerard McCabe designs.

“I was searching for the perfect creation for this beautiful pink diamond, and through painting during the darkest times of the pandemic, I uncovered the emotive ideas that would become the Amore design,” says Nazanin.

Michelle and Claire are the team’s resident photographers, their roles centred on capturing the essence of Gerard McCabe jewellery through their photographic lens. The variation of light, refraction, and the micro nature of their subject matter challenges them daily.

The Amore ring, part of the Remarkable Rocks suite of one-off designs, and selected paintings featured in the exhibition, will be available for purchase.
