NEW MENU, INTIMATE EVENTS AND MASTERCLASSES PART OF STEM’S NEW OFFERINGS

Limited-seated events highlighting local and international vineyards are among the Hindley Street restaurant’s evolution into one of the West End’s most bespoke venues.

In line with their new menu, two intimate events in Stem’s custom-built cellar have been announced. Hosted by Stem sommelier, Henry Bampton, winemaking craftsmanship will be on show.

World Champagne Day on Friday (25th October) will be celebrated with a deep dive into the varietals by Maison Gamet. Henry will be showcasing the fourth-generation growers and producers from France’s Vallee de la Marne in a one-hour event, where attendees will sample their range with some of Stem’s favourite snacks.

Next month on Friday, 15th November, Stem hosts a masterclass with owner/maker duo Jane Bromley and Hylton McLean of Honey Moon Vineyard. This 90-minute event, limited to eight tickets as an intimate gathering in Stem’s cellar, provides insight into the creation of their best handcrafted wines. The artistry of grape growing and winemaking from current and past vintages will be a key topic of discussion.

Guests attending Stem’s events are encouraged to stay for dinner to explore the restaurant’s new menu under Head Chef, Cain King, and Venue Manager, Lorenzo Di Pasquo.

Lorenzo says, “Utilising local produce to evoke global flavours, Stem’s food and beverage offerings have evolved from a heavy Italian influence into a modern Australian selection.

“New dishes include the tuna with kimchi, wild rice, spring onion oil and tuna garum, and the Bangalow pork belly with macadamia ajo blanco, asparagus and black pepper,” says Lorenzo.

Some items, like the lobster sando in white bread, are casual compared to the wagyu striploin, with other dishes including Scotch eggs, oysters and hash browns falling in between.

All dishes have been curated for the menu by Cain to provide a comforting experience in line with the restaurant’s cosy interior design. Stem has six different dining spaces for solo diners, couples and groups to enjoy for various occasions.

Group booths and a central table allow for communal joy. A riser looking over the kitchen gives an intimate insight behind the scenes, while the private dining room, cellar and outdoor seating all offer their own personal benefits.
