Auntie Boo is back this year at Adelaide Fringe and ready to serve you up a titillating array of delectable courses, sure to suit every palate!
Auntie Boo gives us a starter to whet out appetites before the mains are served. We get a demonstration of how to play a classic ice breaker party game and then get the chance to participate!
Our first course is none other than cabaret artist, cat lover and wine connoisseur Tash York. Tash shows us how to make rosé if you only have red and white wine at home, much to the audiences’ appreciation! Tash has the audience in stiches with her quick wit, stunning vocals and comedic prowess. Think Amy Winehouse crossed with Weird Al Yankovic and you’re probably getting pretty close to the talent that is Tash York.
If this doesn’t tantalise your taste buds though, our next course is served – Katie Wright Dynamite. She’s a little bit circus act, a little bit comedian and a little bit burlesque, surely something to suit everyone. Katie picked out unsuspecting Ed from the audience to help demonstrate her knife juggling abilities. More impressive was not only was she juggling knives, but all the while juggling them in a corset and glittery high shoes! Ed of course tried to steal the show with his functional choice in footwear that had the audience and Katie humorously perplexed.
Before we can savour this course however, out comes Sapphire Snow in all her sparkling sensual glory. Sapphire Snow has us mesmerised with her vintage inspired burlesque routine, channelling a bit of Marilyn Monroe and Bette Davis, and just oozing old school Hollywood glamour. Purely a delight to be seen!
Our final course for the evening is the guy who was trying to sell us tickets to the meat tray raffle out the front before the show (yes there is actually a meat tray raffle to be won each night!) – comedian and local lad Mickey D! Now Mickey D is a talented guy, he’s just learnt how to do a pretty annoying whistle and he’s pretty awesome at doing some native bird calls, you may never actually hear a crow call the same again! Just don’t ask him to do a bin chicken!
After feeling full from a variety of mains, you can always come back on a Tuesday night for a second session as they have a different cast performing. Whatever you do though, bring your mates and don’t miss out on this assortment of treats. Definitely a good appetiser to start you off on the right foot for some Fringe Fun!
