Review: Haus of Hans: Disco Spektakulär

By Carolyn J Wild

Rating: ★★★★★

As soon as Hans appeared in a sparkly outfit singing McArthur Park, you couldn’t help but grin. With plenty of sass, he performed disco songs of the 80s and 90s in his brand new show Haus of Hans: Disco Spektakulär.

He introduced his band ‘The Ungrateful Bastards’ and male dancers that wore very little – shorts, bare chests and feathers around their necks. Disco balls hung from the ceiling. It was like a a big, glittery party.

Hans is multi-talented. He sings, dances and does the splits. And he’s hilarious. He engaged the audience with comic banter, calling us ‘darlings’ or ‘honeys’, and occasionally showing his bossy side.

‘Clap along you bitches, I’m working my heart out here.’

And the crowd loved it.

There were several costume changes throughout the show, showing off flamboyant outfits. And no-one can rock green, sparkly shorts with fishnets quite like Hans.

He’s had a busy year, performing around the world and appearing on America’s Got Talent. We saw a short video showing the ups and downs of his AGT journey, eventually winning over that renowned hard-arse of show business – Simon Cowell.

By the final song, Hans had everyone up and dancing, in the aisles and on stage. This show was entertaining, over-the-top and a rollicking good time.
