Glenelg’s Marina Pier brings its popular ‘Umbrella Lights’ installation back this winter for another season to delight those visiting the coast.
Encouraging visitors to Marina Pier to indulge in a night of good food and beverages, the lights return after their introduction in 2021.
JLL Director of Marketing, Anna-Louise Coppock, says their return has been welcomed by locals and visitors alike.
“We wanted to commemorate the cooler months with something enjoyable and accessible to everyone,” says Anna-Louise. “There was such great reception over the last two years, so we wanted to expand the display before bringing it back.”
There were only seven umbrella-shaped light displays along the pier walkway in its first year, but for 2023, that has now doubled to 14.
Featuring cool white lighting for the umbrella frame and dotted with glowing blue lights filling in as colour, individual umbrellas feature as part of a collective installation.
Backed by cloudless sunsets with strong hues on a clear winter’s day, the ‘Umbrella Lights’ make for a perfect setting to enjoy Marina Pier in a quieter time of year.
Families are encouraged to enjoy the free installation and continue to taste Marina Pier at any of the family-friendly establishments.
The Umbrella Lights installation at Marina Pier is sure to warm up any winter blues as the chill sets in.
The installation is now active and runs until the end of September. Visitors are encouraged to share photos on social media with the hashtag #lightupmarinapier.
