World’s Top Female Golfers Prove Adelaide’s Grass is Always Greener at Royal Adelaide Golf Club

Adelaide is set to host 144 of the world’s top female golfers at the 2020 ISPS HANDA Women’s Australian Open between 13th– 16thof February this year. The four-day event will be held at the prestigious Royal Adelaide Golf Club and represents the second year of a prosperous three-year deal rotating on Adelaide’s sand belt courses, proving that Adelaide is a desired destination for national and international sporting talent.

Today, Golf Australia announced that one of the greatest players in the history of women’s golf will be coming back to play in Australia for the first time in six years. Inbee Park, the South Korean superstar who has won seven major championships and an Olympic Gold medal in 2016, has committed to play the 2020 ISPS Handa Women’s Australian Open. The world No. 15 has a record that puts her in the top echelon of players through history – a hall of fame career. The Korean has won 19 LPGA Tour events and seven majors as well as spending time as No. 1 in the world, as recently as 2018.

ISPS Handa Executive Director, Midori Miyazaki, said Park would add talent and class to the field at the ISPS Handa Women’s Australian Open.

“Inbee Park’s return to this event is testament to how significant this tournament really is,” said Miyazaki.

Park last week was named as the LPGA’s Player of the Decade, beating Brooke Henderson of Canada in a popular vote compiled online as the best player of the period 2010-2019.

The Women’s Australian Open event is set to attract more than just your average golf-fanatics to the green, with a multitude of interactive activities and activations planned over the four days. The ‘MyGolf Kid’s Zone’ is the perfect hang-out where children can enjoy endless fun and kids’ entertainment, including a baby animal farm, jumping castle, face painting and balloon animals. Not to miss out on anything golf related, there will be a range of golf activities where kids can test out their skills and win prizes. Families who want to catch some world-class golf action but also be entertained are encouraged to come and make a day of it.

“Not only are we privileged and excited to be bringing some of the best female golfers in the world back to Adelaide for another year, we have ensured that the Women’s Australian Open will be an event that families will see as a fantastic day out for all. Tickets are incredibly affordable which was important to us and the talent is second-to-none!” says Golf Australia CEO, Steven Pitt.

For those wanting a change of scenery, live music entertainment will be performed daily from 2pm in the Village with all the action being shown on the big screen. Whilst in the Village, you can check out the latest in golf-fashion and merchandise, located right next to the food outlets. Or, head on over to the ‘Coopers Roll Bar’ to enjoy a Coopers beer and more, scoring the best seat in the house right near 18 green.

Recently announced are some of the key names of the world’s best female players that can be seen at this year’s Women’s Australian Open joining Inbee Park.  After a successful 2019 campaign overseas, Perth-born golfing star Hannah Green is making a triumphant return to Adelaide in February and has one thing on her mind – winning her own national golf Open. Green joins the likes of defending champion from the United States, Nelly Korda, and Australia’s top-ranked female golfer, Minjee Lee.

Tickets are officially on sale and remain some of the best value in sport at $25 ($19 concession) each day, or $75 ($57 concession) for a four-day season pass when pre-booked. Children under 16 are free. Head to https://www.womensausopen.com for more event and ticketing information.
