Matt Stewart: Dry Ginger Male
8pm, The Cranny @ The Producers
Until March 2nd
★★★1/2
It was a hot night, in a packed room. Matt Stewart was there to throw jokes at us, and we were more than ready to throw laugher back at him.
Stewart hits the nail on the head with his show’s name – his signature dry humour is refreshingly mellow amongst the mania of the Fringe Festival. He’s self-deprecating, commenting on masculinity in the modern world in an exceedingly insightful – but ultimately hilarious – way, that other male comedians should strive for in their performances. Stewart shines when it comes to audience participation, building a genuine repertoire with the crowd and gentle heckling becoming inside jokes, peppering the show.
With only two nights left, Dry Ginger Male is the perfect antidote to the hectic action of the Garden of Unearthly Delights across the road. With a cold beer in hand, sit back and bask in Stewart’s clever wit, enjoying simple stand-up comedy done very, very well.
