Script to Screen: Winter 2018 double feature

The Media Resource Centre and Australian Writers’ Guild are pleased to present the Winter Script to Screen event.

Script to Screen is a unique opportunity to see an unproduced screenplay at a mid-stage of development, read by actors in front of an audience at the Mercury Cinema.

The upcoming Winter Script to Screen is a double feature on Friday 6 July, with readings of two one-hour television scripts, plus a short intermission.

Television director Richard Jasek (All Saints, City Homicide, The Secret Life of Us) will direct the screenplay Resistance, written by Word Ninjas’ writing duo, Ruth Estelle and Pete Monaghan.

Actress and theatre director Tiffany Knight (Gone Viral, Man in a Bag, Charming and Rose, Shakespeare on Love, The Crucible) will direct the screenplay Torch Fort, written by Sophie Morgan.

7pm: Resistance (one hour, sci-fi)
When humanity can no longer fight bacteria with antibiotics, a maverick environmental officer must embrace her destiny as the evolutionary saviour of a terrified population blindly intent on destroying her and her kind.

8.30pm: Torch Fort (one hour, crime drama)
After moving to Beaconsbrook to start her first teaching job, Andi discovers one of the students at the school has recently been murdered. Andi starts her own investigation into the school, the town and even her students.

Script to Screen is a joint initiative presented by the Media Resource Centre and the Australian Writers’ Guild, supporting local screenwriting.
