There’s no denying that JK Rowling’s highly controversial comments on gender identity have left many in the trans and queer community with a tarnished view of the much loved Harry Potter stories and their writer.

From these transphobic comments, has grown this quirky theatrical performance by English award-winning writer and actor Rich Watkins, who also stars in the production alongside Jens Radda as Harry and Australian actor Jemma Allen playing Ally, Harry’s #1 fan.

Together Harry and Ally dive into a fabulously queer adventure to rewrite the story and the semantics of the wizardry world, with a new writer being chosen.

Harry and Ally travel back in time to ‘97 to where Harry’s story all began and of course, the iconic pop music from the 90’s plays a big part with renditions of Aqua, Tubthumping, Brimful of Asha, Backstreet Boys and so much more pulling this all fabulously together.

A sassy, queer, musical delight is what comes to mind, with the cast providing love and laughs along the way making light of the comments, and providing a place for everyone to reconnect with the tale.
