Sashi’s GAJA March is a Foodie’s Culinary Dream

In 2018, the lives of Sashi Cheliah and his young family changed forever when he won season 10 of MasterChef, with a record winning score of 93 points out of 100. In 2019, Sashi achieved his ultimate goal with the opening of his restaurant, GAJA By Sashi, which established himself as a chef in his home of Adelaide that specialises in fusion flavours from South East Asia. Now, in 2020, Sashi is planning to treat foodies to a culinary experience that they can only dream of.

For the first time ever, Sashi is excited to announce Sashi’s GAJA March, which will feature four Top 24 MasterChef contestants from the most recent season 11 MasterChef Australia series to cook alongside Sashi in the GAJA By Sashi kitchen every Saturday evening in March across four dedicated dinner events.

Tickets will give foodies and MasterChef fans alike the opportunity to enjoy a personalised, three course sit down dinner and wine pairing experience. Guests will also be able to listen in and take part in an intimate sit down conversation with the featured chef of the night to talk about the thought and planning that went into their menu, plus no doubt share some exclusive behind-the-scenes MasterChef stories. All chefs have curated a menu specifically for their featured night during Sashi’s GAJA March, with each menu highlighting signature cuisines and flavours that best showcase said chef’s cooking style. Sashi’s GAJA March is set to truly be an interactive and unforgettable culinary experience that Adelaide more than deserves.

“Something like this has never happened before in Adelaide! It gives people the opportunity to try other cuisines from different MasterChef contestants all in one place. GAJA wants to promote other MasterChef talents too and we want the community to experience the amazing food and MasterChef stories. You can get good food anywhere but great food comes with passion and dedication. At GAJA, we want to serve great food.”, says Sashi Cheliah.

The first event on Saturday March 7th will feature Dee Williams, who was the first Sri Lankan female contestant to compete on MasterChef Australia. Born in Sri Lanka, Dee’s cooking strongly reflects her Sri Lankan heritage and she is kept busy in-between her catering business ‘Dee-Licious’ and her YouTube cooking show ‘DeeliciousTV’.

The second event on Saturday March 14th will see Sandeep Pandit, aka ‘The Spice Angel’, treat guests to a menu inspired by his Kashmiri heritage and North Indian inspired food. Sandeep was the first contestant in MasterChef Australia history to achieve a perfect score and an Immunity Pin and.

The third event on Saturday March 21st will feature fan favourite and ‘dumpling master’ Derek Lau, who is known for not only his dumplings and fried chicken, but his knack for pushing boundaries and creativity in the kitchen. Born in Perth himself, Derek’s parents were born in Hong Kong which will inspire the Chinese flavours on his menu for guests to enjoy.

The fourth and final event on Saturday March 28th will be dedicated to none other than Sashi Chelia himself, as he cooks for guests an exclusive three course menu that features dishes not available on the regular GAJA By Sashi menu.

Tickets for Sashi’s GAJA March go on sale this Saturday the 1st of February online at https://www.gajabysashi.com/newsandevents. GAJA by Sashi is located at 4/86 Pirie Street, Adelaide and you can learn more about the restaurant at https://www.gajabysashi.com/.
