BABY WANTS CANDY – THE FULL BAND IMPROVISED MUSICAL

When it comes to improvisation or just simply creating a new musical every night, nobody does it better than Baby Wants Candy.
After a sell-out season at the Edinburgh Fringe, this dynamic troup of extremely talented musicians, actors and performers are entertaining the masses at the 2017 Adelaide Fringe.
In a small intimate theatre the group requests some inspiration from the crowd. After a few random (albeit some quite lame) suggestions, the title of our musical was set – settling into the seat, we watched in anticipation for the opening and closing performance of –
“Fifty Shades of High School Photos”
Our musical centred around a group of high school students vying for prom queen and of course the affection of Christian Grey – the hottest boy in school. Whilst a little cheesy on the surface, the musical took a turn to sexuality, promiscuousness and debauchery.
Let it be known, no two performances are the same – this is what makes the performance so memorable.
Working off the cuff to music, a script, some eye raising dance moves, Baby Wants Candy delivers a impressive performance. There was plenty of material, lyrics and saucy one liners to keep the audience in fits of laughter. With characters such as Kevin Whitler the Knife Whitler, Mr Butterscotch, a gimp and of course Christian Grey you can understand the philandering journey of our musical.
Songs such as “That’s what made Christian Grey” and “I need your pain to feel my depression” received enthusiastic applauses from the audience.
This is a must see of the Adelaide Fringe 2017.
